My Science Project (1985) with John Stockwell.

There are a couple of scenes where John Stockwell breaks into a military junkyard to find something to pass off as his science project. Pretty good 80's sci-fi comedy

Not a TV show or movie, but the PC game Rust is focused on surviving on a post-apocalyptic island. Has a very strong urbex feel, and every time I play I get the urge to drive around and start looking for places.

As you can tell from my username I am a HUGE Lost fan. I was obsessed with that show when it was on and I have re watched the whole series several times. It is my favorite show of all time and all the amazing abandoned locations on the island was one of the highlights for me. This was before I even really knew about Urbex.

I see Cities of the Underworld was already mentioned. Another great program, although the first season was the best. The narrator in the later seasons was pretty annoying. I also wish they had spent more time at each location, got into more detail.
Another History channel show to check out is Life After People. The show revolved around what would happen to Earth if all humans vanished one day. Each episode included a segment on a abandoned place where humans had not lived in many years. Unfortunately the show only ran for two seasons, but is absolutely worth checking out.
I mentioned in the movie thread that Top Gear UK often features abandoned places. For a car lover such as myself it really is the best of both worlds. The show focuses on the cars more so than the abandonments, but they do visit some really cool locations.

Videos are cool!

The Walking Dead often feels like one big explore.

When it comes to video games, nothing beats STALKER.

Isn't STALKER very dated?

As far as I can see, 'The Last of Us Remastered' is one big orgy of urban exploring from beginning to end, not to mention that it's one of the best video games ever made.

The Last Of Us was underwhelming, to me.

The STALKER games are older, but aged well - especially with the mod community updates that have come out since. For my tastes, nothing beats the ambience of STALKER, nor has come close. The last 2 Fallouts weren't bad for that, I guess.

For a movie, what about The Road?

We actually acted out a scene once. That show is great because half the sets are actually just abandonments that they found.

Abandoned America of course. And the series Unplanned America. Both documentary style. Both on Netflix. Will make you yearn for grimy abandonments in your sleep.
