My first exploration! A friend and I saw this home along a dirt road and I begged her to look around with me. It seems to have been empty since 1971 based on calendars I saw on the ground.
There were mattresses (or at least their springy remains) in most rooms on the ground floor. I would guess a tornado made this home unlivable, but I'm not sure. February 1971
View of another doorknob through a hole in the ceiling The stairs tempted me but I didn't trust their stability based on the missing one.
Can anyone identify this toy?
Overall a great intro to exploration. How are the photos? What should I focus on more when I'm shooting my next site?

Great stuff! Really interesting to see a home abandoned for so long yet still standing, and with so many objects from its time inside. Thanks for the look.

Great pics! I actually live in a home that is similar to that one in some ways. It was likely built around 1920 or so. Houses were built to last back then (although mine could use some roof work!) so it's not surprising that the one you found has lasted so long. Still, I agree w/ you on not trying those steps. You don't want to fall through and onto all that debris!

That toy looks familiar to me. Seems like the sort of thing I've come across before. Do you have any other images of it?
