It always surprises me at the amount of negative feedback others give to this type thrill seeking by those who choose to live life to the extreme.

Calling him an "idiot" and comparing his brain to the size of an apple is the equivalent of saying "Strippers are stupid for taking their clothes off in front of strangers." and "F*** that ! I would not ride a motorcycle. Driving a car is bad enough, but a motorcycle?! I love life, I would not kill myself riding one..."

Ignorance. Just because it is not something YOU would be a part of does not make you the authority in morality and the way others choose to live their lives.

Some people choose to live their lives calling people idiots...

Some of them WERE loose because there were a few laying around on the final catwalk just before he reached the top. He just so happened not to walk on the rim of the chimney.

Seriously. Videos like this do make my sack shrivel, but I really respect the people who have the guts to tackle challenges like this. I posted the video in the first place primarily because I find it completely fascinating, and because I wanted to discuss the process that climbers go through to accomplish stuff like this. Condemnation might be an obvious reaction, but it's way more interesting to learn more about how and why people like our Romanian friend here do what they do.

Calling him an "idiot" ......

I'll address this since I am the one who called him an idiot. And then we'll get back on topic.

Understand that when I called this guy an idiot, it is not a "personal" attack on him or the choices he makes. He can do this 10 times a day for all I care. But to do something like this, with risks this extreme, putting your life on the line, for nothing more than a video and being able to say you did it, is in my opinion, an idiotic thing to do.

It is an opinion. My opinion. I see a lot of things that in my opinion are idiotic. Doesn't mean the guy doesn't have a right to do it. He does. And I would never try to squash his right to do it.

His luck will run out at some point, and he will probably die. And then what? Was it worth it? I doubt it. So I stand by what I said. To do something like this, in MY opinion, is idiotic.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.
