As the title says, has anyone come across weapons while on a exploration? Guns, knives, swords, rocket launchers?? Me and a friend found this in a abandoned warehouse that had been last used as a bottle and can recycling center. It was on the top floor, just laying out in the open. I know very little about guns, so this may be some sort of airsoft gun. I nudged it with my foot and it was pretty heavy, we decided it was best not to touch it or pick it up though. Anyone else have a good weapon related story??

Scrapper gear, but the big-ass knife was definitely a surprise. This was from an early morning explore in a local abandoned college. Scrappers have been trying to hit it, but there's active security so maybe they got caught in the act and ditched their gear? I considered hiding the knife for my peace of mind, but the other explorer advised that we should leave it untouched. 1.

That is a big knife! Looks like they just grabbed one from their kitchen on the way out the door!

Found a little shank in a drawer at an abandoned high-security mental hospital. One of my favorite finds.

That shotgun almost looks like a SPAS-15. I will call the cops from a phone booth...
Just celebrated the birth of my third girl, an exploration all in its self. |

If it was real it would come home. Found a pistol once but was rusted beyond restoration.

Well that's just exploring in Atlanta for ya, never know what you find in the hood.
Seriously though I would never think of taking it home with me, never know if it was stolen and/or used in a murder. I just wouldn't want that type of liability hanging around the house. Getting quick cash for it? With my luck I would probably end up trying to sell it to that NotTheCops guy, just my luck. Shoot some pics and leave it be. Want weapons, buy some from a show.

While exploring a wooded area metal detecting the area with permission or course I got a signal for iron and dug up a bayonet but under it there was another hit it was a hard packed dirt ball starting to clean it off and almost Sh** my pants! It was a pineapple hand grenade.Putting it down slowly and walking away I notified the ewer who informed me to my relief it was a real one ne had defused and had lost 10 years ago.He had some wonderful stories though.

Firearm education success story: Found a loaded 410 when I was a kid - didn't blow my buddy's head off. Boy howdy, it seems like I've come across a lot of butterfly knives. Lots of ammunition and some old dynamite (nearly shit myself) If anyone found the tomahawk pipe in the sub level of the Ridge Home training building - you're welcome.

Found a collection of large knives plus various full-face masks in a room at an at-the-time recently abandoned school, also in the room were numerous large band saws and full plastic containers of petrol...never could work that one out.

Three out of the four pictures on this thread are from Atlanta... Fuck yeah.

Collected this stuff at a missile base where they'd been doing some training. The blanks in the magazines still worked
Found in France, couldn't figure out how to get it home in checked luggage
I've found lots of anti-pigeon/rat pellet guns in grain elevators. Found parts and ammo in the leftovers from an abandoned estate sale, but nothing complete. Had an exploring partner swear they saw a sniper rifle leaning against the door of a security office, but I'm betting it was another bored guy hunting pigeons on the night shift.
Turn off the internet and go play outside. http://spamusement...hp/comics/view/137 |

My 'sploring buddy found this this summer in an abandoned New York house.

Now that is a cool looking old gun! I can imagine someone in the wild west using that when a card game at the saloon went south.

That is definitely an airsoft gun. You can find the same model and everything at walmart and I have 2 of the same ones. You will find that if you crack it open there are metal weights to alter the balance and make it feel more realistic while playing airsoft. Also you can plainly see the magazine release is on the magazine itself which I have never seen on an actual firearm. If you are unsure and want to be overly cautious you can take a phone pic of the barrel as the interior barrel diameter of a shotgun (slug OR shot) will be one heck of a lot larger than the diameter of a plastic airsoft pellet. Likewise, you can eject the magazine and see the type of projectile it fires as well as the bottom of the bolt/inside the chamber.

I found a cap gun buried in the ground once. Still have no idea why someone took the time to do that, although at the time it did look kinda sketchy

I've only found spent casings. But I find them pretty frequently.

Two guys got arrested not to far from here a year or so ago for shooting at beer bottles in a abandoned factory. The factory was adjacent to both a school AND a park. They shot over 500 bullets through the walls of the factory. I assume they were drinking while doing this as well. That may win the award for dumbest thing ever done in a abandoned building.

Thanks for the info! That is pretty much what I figured. I don't know a whole lot about guns, but looking at the picture now, something does not look quite right. The thing looked damn real in a pitch black room though! Still a strange thing to leave in a abandoned building. I can't imagine that thing was real cheap.

Oh, that's pretty dumb, but I'm sure that's not the *dumbest* thing some of the folks around here have seen. Hell, probably not even the most dangerous. I was just reading the "Oh shit" moments thread, and some of them have put my stories to absolute shame! And yeah, the first thing I thought was, "Hey! The two airsoft guns I've got are both clear! They must've painted that thing!" Didn't know they still made those. I do like that AK, though. Filed off serials be damned, I'd find a decent hiding place for that sucker. Gotta do your part to take guns off the streets and away from the *real* criminals. :p

Missiles left over from the Vietnam war. San Fran, 2009. That was a bit spooky. Some "event". Forget which.
