Two day weekend explore in Atlanta, where we payed $30 for parking to eat at Waffle House, collectively got about 7 hours of sleep, and put our common sense and logic skills to the test (mostly mine). Started with the abandoned theater of a former asylum, which was in impressively good shape. 1.
2.
3.
4. The next morning consisted of a system of storm drains running under the Atlanta streets. Involved walking over some sketchy grates above a 25 foot drop-off, two ruined pairs of sneakers, soggy feet, and some supposedly terrifying spider webs. The drains led us to what appeared to be a hydroelectric generator 1.

And last but not least the weekend ended with an explore of an abandoned Atlanta house, built in the 1910's, and from the looks of it, abandoned a longggg time ago.

The theatre building was fantastic, and not just a theatre, but a chapel, basketball court, and classrooms. However the theatre stole the spotlight. And much to my chagrin, RadioactiveTurtles picture of the theatre trump mine. 1.

Next the drains. First time draining, so it was pretty fucking cool, despite the bad smell and scary spiders. Really, we should burn all spiders. 1.
2. Finally, the amazing house. Another permission explore, thanks to Radioactive Turtle's connections. Complete with leftover furniture and furs, as well as coal chutes outside, and the remains of a garden out back. 1.

As always, if you want to see more pictures, I pretty much use my Flickr as a dumping ground for my photos so you can find them there (https://secure.fli...otos/99489487@N04/). Great weekend! Now off to get my wisdom teeth out bright and early tomorrow morning.

Have fun with those pain meds Oelky, as I wont be getting any Also i'm done mocking your 24/7 tripod-HDR shooting style, cause #1 of your house set is absolutely stunning!! Great shot! Awesome set all around.

Damn straight! Tripods and flashlights help a lot when exploring Also, goes without saying, but great pictures yourself.

nice sets!
When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store. |

-"Oelky, do you think i'll need a tripod?" -"I don't know Turtle, what do you think?" -*Turtle looks over at brick building with no power, no windows, and no natural light* "hmmmm, not sure"

Nice photos both of you! The tunnels look awesome. I loved the childish graffiti behind the theatre: "you'll never keep us out motherf*ckers!"

I really like the overall look and tone of your pictures Radioactive, what kind of editing do you do to achieve that effect? Its most evident in #1 from the house set. Oelky I love #1 from your drain pics, the reflection really gives it a surreal quality.

Looks like some good exploring! I really like that first group shot, RTurtle & the one you took facing the stage.

Thanks! My go to editing move is to bump up the clarity slider in Lightroom (Which is basically like adding a lot of mid-contrast).

Oelky and Turtle - nice shots!

Awesome pics! The way the light comes in and casts shadows on some makes them particularly creepy.

EXCELLENT!!!!! I don't get excited often on here, but great sets and great locations. Well done. Really like your draining shots. Oelky, your number 1 in the tunnels is my favorite... Especially considering you had never photographed drains before. Turtle, you should join the ranks of tripod users... With or without HDR ;)

Thanks Amish! Photographing the drain was definitely a different experience, but I enjoyed it- lots of opportunities for reflections and light painting.

Thanks man! I'd actually love to do more draining, but its tough in Atlanta with the combined sewer/storm drain system.
