Every single place in the UE DB map around Chicago is gone. waste of time.

as a general rule the DB is a waste of time no matter where you are looking...

yea, nothing has been put there since 2006. I was hoping to update it but it almost seems a waste of time.

As a basic member, you can generally only see demolished for very well-known locations in the DB. Even though the DB is generally useless, you can't see the vast majority of it until you become a full member.

Unless you want to see your favorite spots ruined, i'd refrain from adding them.

Especially in bigger urban areas like Chicago. If you live in Analsex, Alaska you can add things without worrying.

I think I need to put a disclaimer that says "only demolished locations are shown" or something.

That is what everyone says but then wtf is the point of being here? Oh right, telling people how much cooler we are then them ha ha

If the only reason you're here is for easy locations, then yeah.. not much point for you. Luckily, it sounds like you also want to contribute. That's awesome! Just be careful about what you post publicly or to too wide an audience. I admit that the idea of a location DB was a big part of why I signed up here, but what I actually got out of UER was much better. I found a community of like minded people to share with and learn from. Amazing, amazing people that WILL share great locations if you earn their trust and seem like you're willing to contribute a little too.

Orangejuice said it best. I've met so many amazing people and visited quite a few amazing locations, and i owe it all (well, most) of it to UER. Without UER, i'd be drinking beers in farm houses, not massive power plants, ancient prisons and eery mental hospitals.

This should be printed and framed. If I had a way to gift UER gold to you I would.

Exactly. Couldn't have said it better myself. In the little over a year that I've been here, I've met numerous people that have the same interests as me, people who have shared absolutely awesome locations with me, and people who have given me the opportunity to turn around and then show off the cool locations that are near me. I met Orangedrink, in fact, when he was down for a visit in my part of the world. We went out for a drive through my state, and I had a BLAST showing him and his brother some of the local (and not so local spots)--spots that I'd started taking for granted because I've seen them so many times, but it was WAY cool to see them again through the eyes of someone who'd never seen them before. So yeah, fuck a bunch of database. The greatest benefit of being on here is finding like minded people, people who are into the same shit as you, people who are willing to go with you on explores, and people you can share your discoveries with.

Can't wait to make it over there again!

Wait, there's stuff to explore in Chicago!? I thought Chicago was just a huge mob of hipsters that repurposed everything.
I want to be different. But I want to be different just like everybody else, because if I really were different, everybody would think I was crazy and weird. Iowa is Minnesota's bitch. There's an art to pooping. |

Amen to the above. UER is all about getting the networking going. That said, there are totally a few locations in the DB in the Chicago area that are not demolished and are fairly decent places to spend an afternoon.

If there is indeed such a place, I wish to live there.
I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread. |

I think freak explored all the holes in Analsex, and documented it on his old site.
If you want to protect the locations you love to explore, don't talk about them online in public! If you want to make exploring friends, send people private messages! Meet up in real life! Get off the internet! Don't try to have a UER e-penis! You won't impress anyone! This especially means you, Minneapolis MN newbies! |
|
well shoot, lets get the networking going! Will be out in Chicago today and I think Gary tomorrow.

<rant>Something that really grinds my gears is when people add something awesome to the database that they had literally zero part in discovering or maintaining access to. Obviously everyone else could have added it themselves. But they didn't. If you weren't the first inside it and it's not on the DB, that should be a clue that people don't want it on the database. And the admins either don't seem to care or have their hands tied. Luckily I talked the one guy into removing that one place, but most of the time people get buttuhrt and flip out. </rant>
