Yes, but no. Has there ever been a case where this caused you more trouble? Why would you not cover your face? This just makes it a lot easier for them to identify you later on and especially know how you look. If you are confronted by police you have bigger things to worry about.

I can understand the logic behind that, but heres my playful rebuttal. Lets say you're at a location and the police spot you. They're not gonna call in to other cops and start describing your facial features. They're probably gonna go with the basics (race, gender, clothes, and height), not your nose shape or if youve got defined cheekbones. In my opinion if you're concerned about concealing identity from the police, it'd be more important to carry a change of clothes than cover your face. Maybe this could just be my NYC mindset, but covering your face if anything makes you more of a target for the police to keep hunting you down. The guy wearing all black with a balaclava is getting chased a lot harder than the normal looking guy whos just trespassing, especially in the state that things are in over here (terrorism, shootings, etc). Again, just my opinion on the situation based on my experience and understanding of the NYPD and New York City in general. I've got a population of 8 million I can blend into ;) The debate could swing either way.

Anyone who is covering their face is a goof
here is my advise, get a good flashlight, a handful of strong batteries, and go have an adventure, thats all you need... anything more is a waste
and to reiterate, anyone covering their face, I guess unless its to wear a dust mask or breather , is a goof

I only cover my face if expect any type of security measures such as cameras and such. If not then I wouldn't cover my face unless its my respirator. If your covering ur face for cop reasons then ur just asking for it. Idk

One thing I would like to point out, is this person is basically asking for advise to hit up a local drain, not an active nuclear power plant... so I think the spytech advise some people are giving is a little much

Well I agree there, a drain u don't need anything but a headlamp or flashlight. I wasn't paying attention and just skimmed it.

Hey we are guys we like to be stealthy, and from time to time play cops and robbers or in this case 007 secret spies... Hahaha

I agree you guys. Covering your face is usually asking for trouble. I still would advise wearing gloves to keep your hands clean

A goof? Really? Well, sir, that is YOUR OPINION, and I will not react with a childish reply to someone that blindly disagrees with MY OPINION of concealing thier identity in an unknown location that is being occupied. You have a good day. I cannot wait to see what your new avatar photo will be tomorrow.

Yeah... I don't cover my face, wear gloves, wear respirators, set up a tripod, drink any non-alcoholic beverages, utilize common sense or use any good judgment what-so-ever on my explores. Fuckin' proud of that!

Always a smartarse in these threads isn't there? To be real though, I don't carry any specialised gear other than a torch, or as they say in American, a "flashlight", and my little digital camera. Other than that it's just jeans, Vans and a flanno, or again in American a "plaid shirt". Oh, and a large, strong coffee. Super important.

Hahaha excellent! There's a fine line between "homeless" and "hipster beardo", and I'm walking all over it.

When I go down in the greenbelts or under the highways in my city, I often try to blend in by looking a little seedy myself. Never even been approached by people down there, locals and police included. Obviously this isn't a good idea for general exploring or live buildings, of course!

I really am seedy. I have to disguise myself for normal life.

I use red-skinned onion. Some folks use Spanish and I've even heard of some chick carrying a Vidalia but I'm all for the red-skinned variety. Leave your shallots and leeks at home. You're not impressing anyone.
