Flash photography is to tripod photography as tagging is to street art.

Posted by Benched_it I personally love graffiti and spend many hours researching, finding and flicking it.

As do I. It's been a passion for decades. Much of my love comes from the fact that it is pure and free art that is viewable to the masses.

Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt ... Kurt Vonnegut |

I recently spent 5 years living in a European city that loves gazpacho, beach life, and architecture. This city is also filled with beautiful street art. The art became a scavenger hunt for me. I got to know different artists and look for more of their works, read about them, and see what other cities they left their mark in. I once wrote about it and this is what I wrote: street art in City X is a metaphor for humanity that continues to unfold before my eyes... some shine by day and then change at night... some remain hidden when shops are open and are revealed when the barriers to entry are closed... some are rebellious... some beautiful... some have a message... others are quiet and shy... some want to be seen... others want to be found... all express their own essence as well as their creator's...

Regarding the original post...Don't know how they do things in Ohio but in the Philly/NYC area a stunt like this would most certainly earn "Caper" and "joist" an involuntary hospital stay.

Or better, permanent retirement. Street justice for street shit.

Posted by Radical_Ed I think the assholes that did that are fucking clueless morons. I'm all for street art but roller-tagging over a hand-painted mural is just fucking ignorance created by idiots. No fucking brains. They need a solid Polynesian caning.

Every graffiti artist knows you don't go over someone else's work unless it's some shitty ass tag ofc. No respect for people like this.

Then someone should warn the graffiti artists in Korea, many of whom come from abroad.

Obviously not everyone follows the etiquette, but that's true of any group of people.

well I know not everyone does, kinda sad I've seen some really awesome murals get ruined this way.

In my opinion, tagging can be a street art if its done right. The only problem is all those 15 year olds spary painting everwhere thinking their cool.

Specifically, spraypainting giant penises everywhere. Why do people look at a perfectly good abandonment and think, "You know what this place needs? A giant dick." Good street art I can appreciate, but there is nothing redeeming about spraypainting a penis on a wall.
"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there. |

I would have to say that with the exception of things like defacing murals or historical building/locations/markers, I'm mostly not against tagging. I think that mainly comes from the understanding that whether I'm okay with it or not, its not going anywhere. Although I wish people would leave abandonments alone, I guess I just know its never going to happen so I just wish it was more along the lines of art and not just a bunch of dicks spray painted all over the place.
Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints @urban_delinquents |

God yeah, but there are some places you walk into and you'll either see a massive, beautiful work of art, or someone has turned a wall into a page from a journal and write some of the most emotional stuff you'll come across. Things like that, that I can appreciate, are a huge motivator behind exploring to me

In my mind the best sites have no paint that's not original. Pristine, imagine that.
