Just once.

Forgetting toilet paper i can see as a problem. I have once in Indy, and it was terrible.
A bottle opener, on the other hand. That isn't quite as necessary. Especially since you probably had a lighter, Ed!
Come to think of it, forgetting a lighter would be far worse than a bottle opener!

Actually, I was joking. I've had the same steel bottle opener linked into my chain-wallet since I was 17. Whenever the wallet bites it, I pry apart the chain and install it on the new one. I haven't been one day without this important life-link in 28 years.

Oh god I have a couple of these.
#1: We were snooping around an ex-naval base (one where nuclear weapons had been handled before) and we decided that we wanted to walk out to the shoreline where a carcass of a large intimidating building stood. However, there was constant patrols through the area by 2 different cars so we had found ourselves hiding behind buildings, piles of rubbish, etc. As we were walking further down the path to it, we were thinking ahead to where we would hide when the next patrol came around in a few minutes, and there was a fenced off pile of cement pieces. There was a sign beyond the fence but it was pitch black and we couldn't safely use lights, so we climbed over the rope to see exactly what the sign said and it said "Danger, may be radioactive presence here" (or something along those lines). At that moment we decided to go ahead and just leave because a building carcass was not worth getting caught/potentially hiding on/behind radioactive cement blocks.

#2: Climbed up a very treacherous wall/back down into an abandoned ice skating rink/ We'd done this before, and we knew when the alarm was going to go off, and we knew nobody showed up when it DID ring. Except when the alarm went off this time, it was a different alarm in a different place, so we bolted. We climbed back up/down the building and got into our car (hands/clothes still FILTHY) and were sitting there with the windows down catching our breath when two cop cars pull up, and the cops get out and start walking down the various sides of the building (took up damn near a whole block). So windows open, hands/clothes filthy. We were sitting in our car trying to be as quiet as possible when the cop shines his light through the back window of my car and SOMEHOW doesn't see us. As soon as he turned the corner we drove away and decided to not mess with that location again.

Ps: I get scared really easily by doors knocking around in the wind so that's happened to me quite a few times.

I have two.

1: Me and some friends were checking out this abandoned house just on the side of a busy road. We finally got inside it without anybody noticing and my friends start to make too much noise. (For example: bumping into stuff, talking too loud ect.) We were in plain sight too because it was daytime. After about five minutes a cop pulled over to the side of the road and just stayed there for about ten minutes. I was scared of being arrested because we were trespassing and my friends didn't know what to do. Turns out that he just pulled over to check his laptop and after the ten minutes (approximately.) were up, he pulled back onto the road and drove off. I thought it was about time to get out of that place.

2: I was with another group of friends and we went to check out this abandoned farmland. A couple of us brought some fire crackers and things like that and someone had the bright idea to set one off in a mailbox at the end of the driveway by the road. Anyway we were there for half an hour or so and it was somewhere around midnight. Someone ended up pulling into the driveway and I am guessing he was the owner of the property. We ended up booking it through a field which led us back to the road. Someone jumped and hit a stop sign with his hand "because he was bored." After about five minutes or so of running, headlight appeared behind us and we all knew that was the person who pulled into the driveway because of the sound of the engine in the truck. (It was some old Ford.) Anyway, we ended up diving into the ditch to avoid being seen. After the truck passed, we crawled out of the ditch and continued back to my friend's house. When we turned onto his road, we saw the truck coming back down the road towards us. So we jumped into the ditch again and stayed there until we KNEW that he wasn't coming back. We continued up the road to my friend's house.

Yay! I'm glad somebody saw it on reddit before 9gag stole it! I even put more detail into the story in the reddit comments section in my post.
