How is the abandoned Hilltop House in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia as far as exploration goes? I'm referring to this place:
It's within a reasonable distance from where I live - enough to be worth checking out. I've read that it closed some years ago because of structural issues, which makes me a little bit wary about visiting, so hoping that others have gone before me and can give their thoughts on the place. Apologies if this is already covered in the database. I am not yet a full member due to not enough activity yet.

Well, first rule of "fight club" is to never talk about fight club... same rule goes for locations... never really name them publicly unless they're super well-known, which this one isn't. You may want to change the location name and city/state its in. As far as exploring, I've heard different things about it. Sometimes folks get in, sometimes folks get caught. The structural damage is kind of a given in urban exploration. If you're not almost falling through a floor, you're doing it wrong.

The Durango '95 purred away a real horrowshow - a nice, warm vibraty feeling all through your guttiwuts. And soon it was trees and dark, my brothers, with real country dark. |

Forget what those guys above say. If you have a question, ask away, that's what this place is for. Only thing I'm against is posting entry points, etc.
That being said this is all about exploring, so go check the place out for yourself. You can see in the one photo a partial collapse, so be careful. And FYI, this location is not in the UEDB.
Everyone has a dark side, mines just a little more illuminated. |

It's not against the rules to reference a location by name, so I'm inclined to ignore the "advice" to leave that out. Posting entry details, that's against the rules, and also not a good idea to post publicly in the first place for the benefit of the community. That said, it sounds like this could be worth a visit, just as long as I bring a partner.

Name dropping is NEVER encouraged. And this place has been on the DL for years, but yeah thanks for not keeping it that way. So thanks for name dropping like a doushe bag because you're too much of a fucking idiot to you know try it without looking for hand outs.

I was there last July. New boards/locks on all the doors/windows, that were previous POEs. This was due to someone going through and smashing windows and breaking stuff. One of the maintenance guys that was there cutting the grass was going to appear in court over it the next week. One of the side effects of when locations become known.

Not that anyone on this thread would do that kind of thing, lest they be found out and end up like a child abuser in prison. But, remember though, Google has a billion bots out there, giving everyone equal opportunity to invade…

It's gutted. If you're in the area, check it out. I am 20 mins away. Beer me when you're finished.

It's cool. Check it out if you can find a POE. Don't post anything else but your pictures, ya namedropping dingus.

Sigh... Just because it's not "against the rules" doesn't mean it's okay.

We should get a mod to edit the name and location out of the title

Visited it just over a year ago with no issue. Nice place but empty, the best bit about it is the amazing views of the river valley. There is a much nicer little spot nearby which was the main target that day (also a success).

I went about a month ago it is still safe to explore: https://www.youtub...atch?v=DLYLv3dSl-4

Remember staying here as a kid once or twice while it was still open(live not far away). Last I heard it's falling off the hill top. Don't know about the inside these days. Wasn't much on the inside to begin with. Nice view, but a better on across the river on the heights. The location in question is the red roofed structure on the right. 1.
