Nice and e have been procrastinating our visit. Good job

I'd encourage you to go! If you need someone to guide you there I'd be more than willing to take you there, but it's still relatively straightforward

By the way could anyone explain to me what the Sheepman is and who Mr. Saline is? I'm sure Saline comes from the original name of the town before it was named Drawbridge. But it's tagged all over the wall of the houses there

There's actually a trail that leads down that meets up with the train tracks right before the bridge. If you want information about it I could PM it to you

Map it out from the McDs in Fremont. We rode bikes there. You just have to cross one train bridge to the north end. Download the ACE and Amtrak schedules before you go.

Trains shouldn't be too much of a problem I wouldn't think. As long as you step off the tracks you'll be fine. Don't think they'll be snitching but I don't know their policy on that kind of stuff.

Hello UER!

I'm new to the Bay Area and UE in general. I checked out the Sutro Bath House ruins a while ago and got hooked. This last weekend I kickstarted my UE ventures with a trip out to Drawbridge.

I hope you all enjoy!

Before I went out, I checked up on the train schedule via http://www.capitol...rain_schedules.php

Look at the times between Fremont/Centerville and Santa Clara/Great America, CA. I came out bright and early and only saw the first train of the day, but the timing was spot on.

From what I read, I was pretty worried about getting stuck on the bridge when a train went by, but it's really not an issue at all. The bridge is shorter than people make it sound, and as long as you look both ways often, you won't get caught by surprise.

Re: #8 "Sheep Man Sees You" graffiti. My theory, it's a reference to "Dance, Dance, Dance" by Haruki Murakami, http://en.wikipedi..._Dance_%28novel%29 Spoiling it just a little, in that context I think it means "Death sees you."

And thus, all future visits of Drawbridge are canceled for me! Plus, getting there from the south is just torture and it's not worth the drive to go the other way.

So my friend Rob told me that he was stopped by fish and game sheriff while coming back from drawbridge. He was told to wait until the alviso sherif came and asked what he was doing. They confiscated his memory card and was issued a citation for trespassing on a sensitive wildlife refuge. His advice is to look out for anyone on quads and especially for the rail trucks who service the line. He thinks that is who called the cops. Also this went down on a weekday afternoon.
I personally have yet to go to drawbridge but I feel it may be a chill weekend Urbex

Sorry to hear. Yeah, this explore is remote but exposed. I suggest you start a couple hours before sunrise and plan to get out before the first train goes through. If the operator called the cops on us at all, we were back to McDonalds before anyone would've gotten there.

Anyone know the legality on taking someone's memory card? I feel like it'd be okay to issue a citation, but not for taking his property unless they thought it would lead to further prosecution. Makes me want to dump my photos on my phone and onto the web on the way back from explores.

I believe this constitutes search of private property without a warrant, I would have strongly objected to this.
In the worst case, I always try to take my SD card out of my camera and hide it somewhere else before the authorities catch me.

Last time I was trying to take another visit there was quite a few PG&E security hanging around where i usually start my trip. I waited for them to leave but one or two stayed the whole time. What a pain.

I just want to add that nothing out at drawbridge is worth any of the hassle, citation, court date you'll receive if you get caught.

Just be smart about it and if you are caught be polite and courteous to the officers.
