that is some kind of hoist. it was attached to the water storage tank building, so maybe under it is the pump?

given its remote location, caretaker and current surroundings, it "should" stay this way for as long as mother nature will let it.

I found out today that it has been demo'd. So no return trip in the spring like I planned...

I hope they saved the staircase, 'cause that's a fucking shame... I'll never understand why people let beautiful places like this get to the point where demoing them is the "best" option.
