Just a heads up to anyone looking to explore the Crosley Building. I know some people who were arrested for trespass there recently. According to the police, the city has been coming down hard on the owners to clean up the graffiti problem there, leading the owners to put up some new fencing and install alarms. My sources tell me that there may be motion sensors. Be careful, guys.

Thanks for the heads up!
The personal responsibility train left the station years ago, and you gave it the finger as you watched it leave. |

There are! And some of them have spray paint on them. The alarm system is still in place and turned on, but it appears that nobody reset it after it was last tripped. Proceed with caution.
Oh good, my slow clap processor made it into this thing. |

Sorry for replying to old threads but is this information still accurate? I scouted it yesterday and it doesn't seem like there is really much security anymore. Did not enter but going from all of the possible POE it looks like people must go in there all the time.

UPDATE: Security system no longer active. Wires are cut and motion detector smashed. Still be careful and don't do anything to draw attention to yourself however and please don't engage in the behavior that caused them to install the system in the first place. Good luck!

You mean like posting there's no active alarms on a public viewable thread? Googling "Crosley Building, uer" 5th entry down. It's a small, small world... after all.
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in. |

Isn’t this getting a bit excessive Blackhawk? Look I get it that you are trying to protect the location and that’s good but if people can find the location on google without even going through pages of results there is no point in not posting details like this.

Warning a place is hot protects explorers. Just because it -was- wide open yesterday doesn't mean it will be today. One self powered, well placed hidden passive zoned IR sensor/silent alarm is all it takes.

Very true, but that's always a risk we take. It's good to reiterate that point because you truly never know when the owner will decide he's tired of having all of the complaints of vandals in his building and go put in a new system. Goes with any location; just because it's fine one day doesn't mean it will be fine the next. Stay on top of your game guys and always keep a look out for the computers that are out to get you.

I'm sure someone would do something if they gave two shits. It's been like this for a couple of years now. (And for the record, the only reliable POE is through a window.)

He's got a point though. Throwing out info like that makes it easier for someone who wants to do "other things" than explore. Plus, who knows if they would decide to add security again or something like that. You give the false impression that something abandoned is "more safe" to explore. But who knows, do they really read through all of this?

Pretty much anything that a vandal could do to the building has already been done. It's been stripped of metals, had the shit beaten out of it, and caught on fire.

Time to revive a dead thread once again. Taken pictures of this place but never gone inside. Anybody got an update as to security?

As far as I've ever been able to tell being in the area for work periodically, there's not really much of an update beyond all of what was said over the last handful of years. Ownership changed hands in 2018 but I've not heard of nor seen anything being done with the place. No doubt the current owners keep on CPD's tails to patrol the area just as avidly as they used to when this thread was started. PS, this is a new account and my return to UER after many years away (ExploringOhio). I can reach out to some of the old Cincy explorers who aren't active on here anymore to see if they know any more than I do.

The area is definitely more heavily patrolled than it was a few years ago. Not uncommon to see a cop sitting on the property itself.

Welp, there was a listing for the building on CBRE late 2019 but that doesn't seem to have gone anywhere--there's no record of the building being sold unless it was on the down low. CW must still own it. A BLM Sign was hung on the roof in May (GOOD JOB GUYS!!) but was quickly taken down a few weeks later prob by 12/security. My guess is they ramped up alarms. Anyone got any more updates?

I went by a month ago and it was wide open. Then I went to go inside a few weeks ago and it was freshly sealed

I have heard from some distance sources that the Crosley Building may now have cameras. I’m not sure on this but I will say that they have cleaned up all the graffiti on the roof and nothing new has popped up. Last time this happened they had alarms in there.
