Well, when some SF art commission is offering close to 200k to put a mural on the side of it, and provides a link, it's unfortunately public knowledge. I have to say after accompanying DtEW yesterday, the average person still wouldn't know how to get in to it. The POE to this place is the key. from the road, it looks like its locked down pretty tight..surrounded by 2 active businesses, razor wire and the bay. Regardless, good times!

Wow. That's some pretty crazy stuff. I'm sure glad he wasn't home when I visited. Be careful in there people. It's dangerous enough without anything extra to deal with.

Posted by seedy Someone elaborately rigged up one of those weights and suspended it in the chute with the "people transporter" belt. it was pretty weird. I definitely don't want to be around when that rope lets go.

I didn't know what that thing was called until recently. It is a belt manlift.

I don't think it was a "security measure" I think it was someone doing something for the hell of it. It was in plain sight, I bumped in to half the ropes getting myself around them. Nothing happened. Someone did it for the wow factor. And it worked. Once other people see it, I think they will agree. It just isn't set up to take a person, or even a flight of stairs, out.

Sorry this took so long. Flckr makes me want to bang my head against the wall sometime and I just don't have the patience after sitting in front of a computer all day at work. I tend to title my photos rather than number them. Hope no one minds.....Also, I didn't touch the saturation on those "sunset machinery" photos...Promise! Ask DtEW!

Agreed rescueme1060....it's a gem. It might be a bit played out, but it reminds me of my youth. It's a fun explore. There's a danger factor, but I'll go back anytime!

Sounds like CCTV has seen some of the pictures we have taken of his/her work. He/she messaged me on flickr, showed some interest in a spot where some of us UER members held a recent meetup.....

Could a scavenger hunt be in the works? I'll let you all ponder over that for a minute.

Are you speaking of one of the 3 recent meet ups you didn't attend after your threads requesting them? PLEASE tell me you aren't going to send a graffiti artist to one of UER's cherished locations.

No. He/she asked about a place that was owned by the government and now demolished, I don't see any harm in that. In the future maybe you'd like to use the PM button?

I still haven't made it out to this amazing looking place. I'd better get out there while it's still with us. I think it would be fun to go see it with you seedy. How about a return visit? I'll give you a call in a bit to work out the details.
