first time scouting out a place / ghost encounter

after reading through what this website tells me 5756 pages on the site... i found the best way to find places was to get out and just look. i remembered when i went to visit my sister i passed a place on the highway that looked interesting to me. i looked for the place on Google maps for about 3 hours when i finally found it. i drove out there which took me an hour and a half on a Sunday morning so needless to say i was hungover. i was still extremely inexperienced at this point so i didn't notice any of the tell tale signs that the place was still completely active. it was right off the highway very visible. i trove in my truck around the place and didn't see anyone but i definitely could hear machines running inside the place. im sure the people inside were looking at me saying "what the fuck?" i was driving literally 3 miles an hour looking around. one of the building was in bad shape but didn't have any broken windows and could still be usable but the other one was very tall and looked unusable. all the windows were blown out and it was falling apart. i would like to do more research into this place and go on a Sunday when the workers are not there. it looks fascinating. sadly i deleted the pictures... so after driving almost 2 hours for this i decided i was not going to leave without seeing something really good....

so i got back on the main road and i saw a sign that said "north end of complex" so i followed the sign but what i found was just a normal town except for this gem...

when i first pulled up i was like wow this place is amazing! i noticed that EVERY entry point on the first level was welded shut with think steel plates and on every door there was a sign reading the usual NO TRESPASSING. i continued to walk around the building looking at it and people were staring... i walked around back. along the bottom of the building there were what looked to be old windows about a foot wide and a foot tall. it was completely dark inside and i wanted to see what was in there. i took out my camera phone that had flash and put it inside the hole and took a picture. now what still scares me to today is that literally as soon as i held down the button to take a picture the massive gust of wind came out from the hole. there had been no wind that day whatsoever. it was not a natural gust of wind either. now at the time that the gust of wind happened i literally thought nothing of it. here is the picture if your wondering

i kept walking around and then decided to go home. after i got back home i decided to look for some abandonments online. i stumbled upon a list of "top 10 haunted places in illinois" i was looking through them one by one when i came to number 2 on the list. it was called "bartonville insane asylum" i clicked on the link and decided to read about it. AFTER i read the history of the place and the hauntings that came with it i looked at the picture.... it was identical to the pictures i took. i could not belive it. i looked up on google maps and what do you know.... SAME PLACE. all of a sudden i remembered the gust of wind that i felt and i felt sick the entire night. it was a very strange experience.... keep in mind i felt like i was being watched from that place the entire time. not from the buildings around me but i felt someone was watching from the fourth story of the place in those little windows. i have heard that you can get arrested for just walking around the place just as i did... thanks for reading! comment or send me a message! i want to know who read this!
