Got a new friend for my b-day. Really itching to get out and shoot it.

Any guesses as to what it is? ;)

Good choice.
700 platform is my go-to.
How/where/what are you shooting?

Everyone was very close. It's an FN Patrol Boat Rifle. (PBR) Very similar to the R700P as it has the houge stock and the full length aluminum bedding, but uses the Winchester Model 70 action and it's actually made in the Winchester factory.

Just took it out again this Wednesday. Very hard to find .308 and I don't like to shoot what I got so I waited until I could find some. I recently had brain surgery so I am still a little shaky so my accuracy was off, but my wife did very well with it. Definitely a sub-MOA rifle. It would probably put them in the same hole at 100 yards if I had it in a gun vice. I was just using factory 170 grain remington ammo.

I would really recommend this gun. FN makes some great guns and the PBR is no exception.

Me, 3 shots @100 yards

My wife, 3 shots @100 yards. I probably shouldn't piss her off.

Nice!
FN does make top-notch firearms.
What optics do you have on it?

308 and 7.62NATO are slowly coming back.
Check

Not 2007 prices but ~0.70/round is pretty common.

Nice nice!

I've a Rem700 in .300winmag They're good "friends" to have

What's the barrel length on that? Might just be the photo.

Not sure about the Rem70/FN PBR, but I replaced the floorplate on my 700 with one that accepts box mags.

Also put a muzzle brake on mine last year. Noticeable reduction in felt-recoil.

I don't know how the .308 kicks, but that damn .300wm kicks like a goddamn mule!

Nice looking rifle though!

Shooting at 100yrds with that seems a bit of underused potential

It came with a Leupold 3.5-8x40 scope with a fine duplex reticle. I wanted the practice my Mil-dot ranging so I bought a cheap Tasco 4.5-10x50mm. It's not horrible, at least it stays zeroed when shooting. I need to get a good long range scope. It comes with a 4rd detachable box magazine which is nice. We took it shooting 500+ yards a few months ago and even seeing the target with my crappy eyesight was a little tough. I hit the target most of the time even with a 30-40 MPH 10-o-clock wind, but I was just holding the same shot and assuming I hit it. (3 mils up 2.5 left). The only other problem with shooting long range is having to walk all the way out there to check your shot and change the targets. I really need at least 26x scope or a good spotting scope. I also need to get an ATV.
