update from molnet steam tunnel efforts (operation dig- dug)

me and my friend which i will not name at the moment have been carefully planning a decent into the steam tunnels that supply hot water to every building on campus. we waited until 2:00 Am Sunday morning to descend the tunnels after scouting the previous months for an entrance points. our original spot of entrance would have been fairly simple and harmless, we would have entered through the mech room in troy science building...unfortunately when they stopped locking up the loading docks and i could finally get back into troy science building it had seemed they locked up the mech room. Because of the situation with the mech room me and my friend had been searching campus for tunnel grates that have not been secured. the we did find one but it was in plain site. we waited and scouted the are so cops wouldnt drive by and bust us. i loosened the grate a week before so it came up easily and we both hopped down and threw on our masks. we noticed that not only was the area a crawl space, but it was also a crawl space for a long distance, after freaking out for a bit thinking we would have to literally crawl all over campus we decided to descend down the sloped side since it seemed like it got wider and to our luck it did. We followed the tunnel till we finally hit a split where we were could stand up, from there we headed towards the library building and down towards greek row. we found that if we walked down that direction we came upon another split where we had to take our packs off and shimmy through potentially live electrical wire and insulated steam pipes that were pretty hot. we looked down the left side of the split and it seemed like it would be difficult and best saved for our next return. I decided we should investigate one of the cool spots way back since the tunnels were really hot in some places, as i sat down and dug out my camera i was about to take a picture when my camera so kindly informed me that i had left my CF card in my cardreader. we took a breath and complained a little then headed to the split where we made a right down the slim walkway and found a small area where an exit to the music building was present. we finally were in the section of the last bits of tunnels that extended out that way and the tunnels ended in a shaft that went down about 20ft to a grate that prevented us from venturing into one of the PE buildings.

after that we decided we would try exiting out of one of the other building connections that happened to be a gym too. this one exited out into a mech room that provided ventilation to the building as well as the water works that run the pool. we walked into a weird room that had a flat ceiling and a floor that curved to the ceiling. we noticed on the side that there were lights that looked out into a pool. upon closer observation we could see they just took spot lights and shined them through windows to pools. too bad its not an option to see that room during the day because it was the windows to the all girls lap pool. we ended up just exiting out of the mech room in that particular building.

we updated some of the nearly 15 year old maps that molenet had drawn up for us back in the day. we plan to publish my guide at some point to the internet to aid other studenst when we leave.
