I need a small, awesome flashlight, by like, tomorrow. So I have to be able to buy it in stores somewhere, be it a hardware store chain or camping store or what have you. Ideally it has both red and white LED functions. Anyone have anything specific to suggest? Also if there's some weird chance that you're suggesting something from B&H Photo or Adorama, both their flagship stores are nearby, so I could hit that up too.

Online ordering is not an option for this particular adventure since I'm heading out on a roadtrip starting tomorrow afternoon. Apparently I got my former badass flashlight wet and it corroded my battery contacts beyond the point of repair And of course I didn't think to check on it until the 11th hour.

I'll photoshop 1 free raptor for whoever can give me a good answer.

Heckling is also appreciated.

Your local friendly Walmart (where I get my lights in a pinch) might be able to help. I really dont't know of any other retail places that have some non-crappy lights. They typically carry Coleman brand of lights. I used to have one that did white, Red and green that could be adjusted by a twisty thing on the light instead of adding/removing colored filters which I would assume sucks and would end up losing. Also, they had a Blue, Red, White one too.

The red was nice for sensitive night locations. The white was nothing special, just good for illuminating the area you're in and general navigation. Other than that, I really can't recommend anything from Wally world except the huge spotlight.

I see Adorama carries Surefire, who make red filters to fit their lights. You pay through the nose for that brand, though.

Home depot has a 5 white/1 red LED flashlight for $30 that offers nearly 100 lumens and runs of AA batteries. I can't find it on their website, but all of the HD stores in my area have them in stock all the time. Hopefully your stores do too.

Go to home depot and get that 5white 1red and you'll likely be happy. Carry extra batteries, and check on the poor thing after it swims.

Coast/LEDLenser lights are decent about water, but their 3xAAA lights dim as the batteries die... Have fun, and we can set you up with better stuff in the future.

Costco is presently selling a 150 lumen surefire looking light, in a 2-pack, for $30.

Costco Canada continues to stock the Lightmates 3 watt LED light. It uses a Cree bulb and is rated at 75 lumens (if I remember correctly). I think it's $19.99 for a two pack that included batteries.

I have a few of them and they're ok.

Didn't see anything on their website in terms of flashlights when I was looking earlier, guess that means I will have to go into a store and see for myself.

They're definitely in stock at the one near Winston Churchill but they are def not on the website.

Hear hear. After all, having another (and another, and so on) lights solves this problem.

Thanks for all the suggestions and advice- first step on the trip is Rochester so I may have a few minute to look for something up there, since the best I was finding locally was either wee single light LEDs or giant maglight-esque beaters.

Lesson learned, I'll get moar lights
