| | | Since there's been alot of discussion on climbing & access equipment, I thought I'd start a thread for everyone to post up pics of the different harnesses they use. Or even pics of you wearing your harness. NOT to bash people for their harnesses but so we can get an idea what other people are wearing and using; and to sport your stuff. =D For daily use I wear a buckingham saddle, because its uber-comfy. I call it the "rat saddle". Since then I've made suspenders for it. I'll have to take pics of my Black Diamond Harness.

| | | Strangely enough, I don't seem to many any up-to-date pictures showing me using the equipment that I use these days. But here's my harness on REI: http://www.rei.com/product/751941 The best thing I have is the video and small pictures that uLiveAndYouBurn posted on his blog about some craziness that involved climbing gear... http://www.nopromiseofsafety.com/?p=887

| | | Ahh, yeah this is the thread I wanted to post this in, not fall protection (forgive my crosspost): Everything but the kitchen sink:
Minimal SRT Gear (labeled):
IF you wanna see my [bad] SRT in action, you can check this vid here: I had to make some stupid video for a college course, just proving I can record, edit and compile video...
I was trying to kick off against the tree but it was mossy/slippery. If you can't tell I need a lot more practice. At the end, there is a vine I climbed up by hand to demonstrate the difference between my (at the moment) rather shitty SRT and my (31337 n1nj4) climbing skills. Everything is in realtime I only edited out the uninteresting ascend/descend changeover.

Is that anchored on the walkway, or further out?

It's anchored right up on the catwalk! It was so damn cool! Did you read his blog post? That night was SO much fun.

Yup! Cable grab / cable sleeve slides freely until you fall backwards, you still need a lanyard to tether off when you have to get around the cable struts. I use it for solo-climbs only, if there's more than one of us climbing it, fall protection slows the group down. Dbi/Sala Cable Sleeve 6116502 MSRP $399 Nailed one on eBay for $71 & free shipping.
Though it took three weeks for the seller to ship it using USPS when he clearly marked it as 4-5 day UPS Ground, which killed several nights plans. You can get them on eBay for under 100. Wait until there's one up for bid for under $80 with six seconds to go on the auction and throw up a hundred dollar bid.

| | | Mindhacker, Nice tower harness! I've got a couple pics of the rest of my equipment here. Well, most of it anyway. Some of it got left in my storage trailer last time I was up there, this gives a pretty good idea of the extent of it though.

I have been wanting to invest in some buckingham spurs and more climbing equipment for climbing out in the forest. also because im still quite fond of making tree forts. sweet setup

| | | In that case I should mention... Spurs are ONLY meant to be used on DEAD trees, or in dismantles which are hazardous and otherwise dangerous to complete without using spurs. In live trees, spurs cause several dozen to hundreds of small puncture wounds into the outter layer of living tissues of the tree. This provides a ready means for bacteria and vermin to enter the main trunk tissues and disease/infect/infest an otherwise healthy tree. Only "hacks" in the tree care industry use spurs/spikes/gaffs on live trees which are not being completely dismantled. The rest of us use special rope techniques and equipment to gain access wherever needed in a tree to do the propper pruning and such that needs to be done. DONT USE SPURS FOR JOY CLIMBING, LEARN THE RIGHT TECHNIQUES AND EQUIPMENT REQUIRED AND DONT BE LAZY. I'm really not a tree-hugger or anything, but I dont agree with people spiking up perfectly good trees just because they want to climb one and can't manage to do it any other way. There are plenty of websites/forums who's focus is purely the art of climbing trees without causing damage. Look them up.
