I'm a big advocate of cargo pants / shorts when draining / exploring. I tend to carry a ton of lights so it helps to be able to just throw everything in your pockets. I made rope slings for my large 2 million candlepower torches and lanyards for my lightpainting lights (little rommisen light and a solarforce L2) so I can wear em around my neck and easily swing them around when needed.
Nothing against the holsters, but they're too reminiscent of a fanny pack for me to be seen wearing one, let alone 4 or 5 at a time :p

In addition to using a holster I also use a camera bag that is a fanny pack.

Don't you also wear a skirt kilt while on location?* Doesn't really give you many options pocket-wise, I think you're justified in your fashion crimes.

*Joking, don't take the kilt shot from the Irish guy to heart. And yeah, I know it's a sporin, not a furry pouch, but that's not as fun to say, is it?

Support for fanny packs:

As for the poll, I vote 6) Holsters are for cops, batman, Roadwolf and guys that wear kilts while exploring.

yep.

I only use 1 holster on my 16 LED Xtreem torch (decent torch for $20 AUD and Aussie made!). Since my work bought me cargo pants I now use them for draining so they are convenient for small torches, batteries etc.
Speaking of batteries I keep my spare batteries in the plastic containers that large drill bits, milling bits and tapping dies come in.

I bought a couple of holsters off DX a long while back (last year sometime) but never found a use for them, and they're sitting here gathering dust. Instead I stuff my secondary light (RC-G2) in my pocket, carry my 606A in my hand (packing it in one of my other pockets if I need to put it away temporarily), and keep my 6V light stuffed in my backpack (or in the backpack of one of my companions.. you use it, you carry it ;) ). I also keep a couple of spare batteries in one of my cargo pockets; never know when you'll need 'em!

As for lanyards, yeah, I'm definitely a fan. In particular the lanyard of the G2 lets me do my "crap, primary light's dead -- grab secondary!" technique with style. Haven't lost a light yet, either.

"furry pouch" "fanny bag" he he

..I sometimes wear a "bum bag" that carries my 12v battery + lightcann. Although, I'm now envy wishing I too had a holster that I didn't use, that would go well with my new torch that I'm yet to have received.

A clip (non-feeding) for batteries? Neat.
