Oh like you don't hate/make fun of a Leaf goalie? Hell i make fun of them and they're my team.
So the Leafs be making some trades. Good to see new faces, but a little sad to see some older faces gone, but that's the business. I have some thoughts...
As for the old Leafs... Vesa Toskala - Glad to see him go. He had one good season in T.O before it all went to shit. Hopefully he can rebound and be a good backup to Hiller down in Anaheim.
Jason Blake - I think Blake is very talented and has the potential to score another 40+ goals in a season before he retires. Sadly, we just won't be able to see it in a Leafs uniform.
Matt Stajan - Stajan was the second longest running Maple Leaf i believe behind Tomas Kaberle and i was kinda sad to see him go, but that's the business i guess. His numbers were not up to par anyways so i felt this was coming soon anyway.
Ian White - White showed good promise in his first couple years in T.O, but his numbers were lower and lower the longer he stayed with the Leafs so i think this change will benefit him greatly.
Niklas Hagman - Yeah he scored some goals, but at the end of the day he's a bum. Good riddance to you!
Jamal Mayers - He's actually wanted a trade for awhile now and i'm glad to see him go.
As for the new Leafs... Dion Phaneuf - Phaneuf is a big body that should fit in well in Toronto. He's a gritty player that can lay out the hits and has a natural scoring touch. Pair him up with Kaberle and you've got quite the defensive line right there. Phaneuf will re-adjust to the Leafs style of hockey very quickly and i wouldn't be surprised if he was given an "A" near the end of this year or next year for sure.
Keith Aulie - Don't know much about this kid, but if Burke says he's good i'll give him a shot. He did win a gold medal with Canada at the world juniors last year so he does have some potential.
Fredrik Sjostrom - I think this guy was just tossed in so the Leafs weren't trading 4 for 2. I don't know much about this kid either, but hopefully he a become an elite player for the Maple Leafs.
J.S Giguere - A great guy and a proven number 1 starter. I kind of saw him leaving Anaheim soon after Hiller was signed long term and officially made the number 1 in Anaheim. Giguere is the new veteran goalie that the Leafs needed and i have no doubt he'll put up good numbers in Toronto.
