Are you talking about US Pipe? It's on 24 just west of Chattanooga proper? They've fairly well gutted that building, and they may still have a guard stationed. That said, you'll never know unless you try!

The last few times I have been to Chatty I kept noticing that old US pipe site. It looks awesome. I would like to check it sometime. Let us know how it went if you go!

Then I'll definitely go with you and I can also take you to at least two other cool abandonments in Chattanooga.

I pass through Chattanooga fairly often on my way to Atlanta. Friend me on Facebook:

Ever sense I was little I have been traveling from knoxville to alabama. I have always noticed these awesome places on the way around chattanooga. Just off the interstate or highway or whatever. I have wanted to go for forever. They have been closed for some time and are more and more gutted every time I go, but anyway there is a lot going on there.

I just remembered Parkway Towers next to the stadium. I remember when I was a kid growing up in Chatty and hearing about how that place was an eyesore and should be torn down. I'm so glad it wasn't!

I need to hit that place sometime. From what I have seen of the pics inside, it's pretty awesome.

In May 2005 a teenager was paralyzed after falling from the building while trying to photograph the Chattanooga skyline, according to newspaper accounts.

A $12 million lawsuit was filed in August 2005, and in January 2007 the lawsuit was settled, but the case was sealed and the details of the lawsuit were unavailable.

Ridiculous.

I've been in there since that and even though it's been better secured since then, it was still doable. Although it's been about a year since I've been there so it might have changed. It's worth checking out but it's nothing that awesome; mostly gutted. The creepy basement is the only area that has a lot of stuff in it, but it's pitch black so no good for photos. The view from the roof is really good, especially if there is a game going on at the stadium! Just whatever you do, don't step backwards onto a rotting plywood board covering a hole...

Wow. ok. A. The US Pipe is awesome, but they do have guards, I used to be one as well as the old EPB building downtown which is amazing (if they haven't knocked it down yet, I know they were talking about it 3 years ago when I worked there also as a guard. Also several other old downtown buildings and some cool houses in North Chatt and Highland Park areas worth exploring. B. The Parkway Towers are now project housing DON"T GO THERE! LOL. And C. The kid who was "trying to photograph the skyline" was an "acquaintance" of mine. And he was on LSD when he climbed the Majestic Theater and "fell" off. So stay away from drugs and you should be OK. Anything else I can help with feel free to contact me. Chatt is where I started doing UE while I was in college there. However I could never find my way into the rumored "Chattanooga underground", so if anyone has pics that would make my day.

Oh yeah, I just remembered. If you can get past security (it's pretty tight) Mueller Company (off Amnicola Highway, there's a BIG water tower that says Mueller on it) has a massive burned-up foundry on the second floor of the building right in the middle of the complex. And it is awesome. I wish I had thought to take pictures, because it is very hard to get into. The bottom floor is still in use, but no one goes into the top two due to the fire weakening the structure. Rather than rebuild the old foundry and put the bottom floor "mold casting" floor out of commission, they just left it and built a new one right next to the old one. I have the entire complex memorized, since I was a security officer there too.

First of all, the Pipe company was up and running last I was aware, but I just got back in town, so I don't know.

Parkway Towers. Not a great idea. I knew that kid.
Only reason he fell was because he took a step backwards onto a board that was over a hole in the flooring.
Regardless, the place is not very safe.

As for "underground chattanooga" I know of one group that knows of it. Ghost hunters. Not joking. link: http://www.chattanoogaghosttours.com/
More specifically. http://www.chattan...urs.com/page3.html
Their email is on the site, someone should email them. I will if anyone would like me to.

I want to know those places! PM me!

I've got a few pretty nice places down here. One small, yet very awesome hospital.
A great little hotel, though bums may reside now!

I have emailed them.
I remember seeing that site about a year or so ago, but I think those photos destroyed whatever credibility I thought they had.
I'll see what they say back.

share the reply in this thread, but.........
its probably going to end up being the cellar of an old active building..

the way i have always thought of it: "If you wanna see Underground Chattanooga, then you must go draining."
that said, ive never drained in chatt. , but in theory that would be the best place to look, right??

So I dont think theres really anything to see of the Underground Chattanooga stories...

From what I understand it's downtown somewhere, so I'm not sure if drains would lead there necessarily. Someone told me once that they heard one of the entrances is under Unum somewhere.
