I had the burning urge to get a new compact light this evening, and I'd been eye-balling one that we sell at work. The price was fairly reasonable [$16.99 USD], so I made the purchase.

It's a 1 W LED light made by Dorcy. Has a fully adjustable focus, and is quite powerful for being powered by only three [3] AAA batteries. Should prove useful this coming weekend.

EDIT: The last two photos were taken at a range of roughly 15 feet [3 meters] in my completely darkened garage.

I thought my focusing LED light would just be a novelty, but I've found it far more useful than I expected. Mine focuses by pulling/pushing a lens on the front, essentially - is your Dorcy similar?

Unfortunately, it does not. It's a standard thread that if you're not careful will completely remove the lens assembly. However, for simple use in less critical areas, this lamp will be sufficient. Much less bulky than that damn triple D-cell monster I've been using.

There is a place I went into the other day that had these for $9 can. I guess this means I have to get one.

Yes, I have a problem. I guess I can justify it as I duck taped two flashlights to my tripods a few weeks ago and I'm running low on lights in my drawer. /nerd
