So today I'm trying to organize and clean my bedroom. I'm not getting anywhere. I have too many sweaters (over 100) and shoes. No room and little closet space.

I don't even know where to begin. I look at the room and want to cry. I did sort out my re-usable bags & extra shopping bags. Fun start!

i feel like going back to bed.

Any suggestions would be wonderful.

Donate approximately 75 sweaters to charity?

I am going through the something similar. Seventh Stage and I moved from a large apartment to one that is approximately 1000 square feet smaller (not an exaggeration). We are trying to figure out what is really important to us and donate the rest to charity.

Also, I have started moving a lot of extra stuff to my office at work. Basically stuff that could be useful there, but not used often. Now all of my college textbooks and a couple of sweaters reside there. It is not much, but it's a start.

Goodwill and Salvation Army have had a great month with my stuff. I am determined to not have my new apartment as cluttered as my last. If you have more than a few bags of stuff the Salvation Army will probably come pick it up for you. I had them come take away a lot of stuff for me before (including a couch).

So I guess with the clothes and shoes it is best to start weeding out what you don't wear anymore or does not fit (can you conceivably wear 100 sweaters with any degree of regularity?). I got rid of several bags of clothes that way. After that it is a matter of just sorting it in a way that matches your daily routine (sorting the objects and put most frequently used stuff first).

I sympathize with your troubles. It always seems like a mountain of stuff and I have no idea where to start. I try to work by starting in one corner of a room and working outward. Whatever area I just straightened up is off-limits to new stuff and slowly the clutter gets contained to one corner.

On the bright side, I am just grateful that if having too much stuff is my biggest problem my life is not too bad.

The sweater obsession is slowly coming to an end. Some sweaters are for exploring, some are dressy for skirts. I have others for jeans & what not. I actually gave about 25 away last spring. I donate to charity.

I started with one corner ... got that finished but it was really not much in that corner to do.

I really want to scream. My fiancé puts everything in piles & doesnt use his drawers.

I think I will sort out my hats next. fun fun fun

Then make him help you. If sloppy people see how much of a pain their habits are sometimes they change. If you do it all for him then it will be back to the way it was in a matter of months.

In my relationship I am the sloppy partner, so I am rapidly learning to get away from that as space becomes a premium.
