Awwww, that's a sad story I'm sorry about your rattie. Even though they smell like dead fish, pet rats are too fucking adorable for that short life-span.

I love my pets... and I worked with a lot of people who loved their pets as well.. whether it be a dog, a cat, a fish or a rat.

A pet is a pet, and the love people feel for their pets is real, no matter what kind of pet.

Rats make great pets, as I have told so many people over the years. They're personalities are awesome!

I'm sorry about the loss of your pet, I know how hard it is to loose a pet you love.

I'm so sorry. They have such a short life. I swore off rodents after my hamster, Mitten, died last christmas day.

Sorry to hear,Tullo!

My daughter had a pet rat, that I was completely horrified of. I eventually warmed up to it,but would never hold it.
I was surprised by how sad I was when it died though.

I am very sorry for the loss of your beautiful rat.
I too have lost a beloved rodent and I am certain I will never have another hamster in my life.

this is tom ryan, i found him at work - or rather, a customer found him and I took him. He was a cuddle bug, and loved being held and pet. if you pet his head he would hug your finger and close his eyes. He was amazing!

the love we can have for our pets, even the rodents and lizards and fishies, is immense. RIP mr rat. you were loved!

Awwwwwwww! Your story got even more sad.
Maybe the dead fish smell was the tumor that my ex's rat had? I had a dog with a tumor in her mouth, once, and it stank. The rat's tumor was on his side. It was huge. He was chill, though --- still loved lopsidedly running on that wheel...

My pet guinea pig, Cuddles, lived to be about 7 or 8. By the time he died, he was completely blind. He knew where I sat at the computer in reference to his cage, so whenever he wanted attention he'd scuttle over to that corner, get up on his legs and squeal. In life he loved to tuck his nose behind my ear and purr when I held him, and we'd take naps together on the couch with him sandwiched between my boobs.

The day he died, we were having a man come in to repair our furnace. The repairman accidentally thumped his ladder against the cage and made a whole bunch of noise. I guess Cuddles was just scared because he started dragging himself to that corner, his hind legs limp behind him, squealing for me. I picked him up and he convulsed in my hands. He gently tucked his nose behind my ear, gave one last little purr and went limp.

I've never had another pet since.

That could be right there Emma. My niece had rats and they didn't smell like dead fish.

My condolences Tullo. Mr Rat was a nice looking rat.

Keti, that hamster is a cute little bugger. I don't blame you for being sad when he died.

The rodents I had were gerbils. Three of them I raised from newborns (I owned the parents) and yeah, I got really attached to them. They were a lot of fun and what made me laugh was when my Mom actually held one when it was a three weeks old. That was the only time she would hold it but despite her so called hatred of rodents, she was sad when they died.

And when the females had the first litter, Mom freaked at first. When I found homes for all the babies, she hadn't freaked since. The three I mentioned were from later litters.
