| | | Posted by Wilky You've got a good point about the other quarterbacks who hung around too long. I guess this season will either validate a lot of people, or prove a lot of people wrong.
| Let's see... Joe Montana, Jim Kelly, Warren Moon, even John Elway all hung around way after their services were required. The only thing was they were 'that' good, but you could see the age. With guys on the line, you don't notice them slowing down so much, but with the quarterbacks, receivers ands running backs, age is vicious. I know a bunch of Jets fans, and despite me being a Bills fan, I am merciless. MERCILESS!

| | | I totally agree with ya'll about players staying around too long. It is sad to watch them try to play with their body failing them. That, however, is the one difference when it comes to Favre. He is in great physical shape, and doesn't have any lingering injuries. He has been injured in his career, but not like Montana (shoulder) or Moon (knees), where the same injury continues to haunt him. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying he will take the Jets to the superbowl. Not this year or in the future. I think he can still play at his best level, and the Jets have put together an incredible offensive line. It will be fun to watch.

| | | I have been a fan of the Packers my entire life. I love Brett Favre. I really do. But I have to side with the Pack on this one. It's not that Favre isn't in shape to play, but he's been back and forth about retiring for years now, waiting for the very last minute to say "ok, I'll stick around one more year." This year he said that's it, the end, and the Packers asked and asked if he was sure. They would have obviously been happy to keep him as starting quarterback. But Farve made his choice, and as usual, changed his mind. The GM was right to stop babysitting Favre, and as much as it killed me when he said "retirement"... at this point as a fan I feel like I've been jerked around for long enough and I am ready to root for Aaron Rogers. I will always love Brett and will probably watch him as a Jet (Thank god it wasn't the Vikings, that's all I can say on that subject), but this will always taint my feelings for the man. I am a Packer fan first and foremost, so Goodbye Favre, and lets move on already.
Also Samurai, GO BILLS! ;)
