Entry: Candystripe (Subway)

Candystripe is the unofficial name of the red and white stripes on walls and other structures of subways (chiefly NYC) to indicate there is insufficient clearance between the walls or other structures and the track for a person to safely stand and not be struck by a passing train.

May also appear as yellow stripes on walls in some areas (such as Toronto).
