| | ever been contacted by the authorities? < on 1/15/2004 7:03 PM >
| | | Now, we all know of situations where people are caught in the act. (By the act, i mean the act of being somewhere you're not really supposed to be.) But has anyone on this forum been contacted after the fact? Have your websites incriminated you? (crime in this sense is not necessarily breaking and entering or vandalism, or anything destructive, but just being there)

| | | I've been contacted by a detective from the RCMP after my interview on CTV was aired, but it wasn't a bad thing. He was asking for assistance with a case, which I was happy to do what I could for him.

| | | I was contacted by a local police detective by email using an address I only ever posted on these forums. After explaining to him what exploration is about and the fact that theft is not even on our minds, he seemed pretty cool about it. I've since reported cases of vandalism to him and he seems honestly appreciative.

| | | Well i never got called by the authorities. but i actually went to them. Yes, i went to a police station in the midle of the rush our, with all the cameras there and all the police men and 5 detectives. i went there and everybody stoped talking and looked at me and my friend . Then we asked" ah, yeah, i was wondering if anybody could help me with my school project. We are doing this research about places that can be dangerous to the society and we are searching for abandoned places, does anybody know about anyone?". it actually worked i got 9 places. but then a FBI detective got smart with me(by the way, they are detectives, they are trained to get the lies out of poeple!!) and started to ask for what school when it was due, what class, what teacher, were is the school. what are we going to do once we get there etc.. We almost shat our pants, but we expected this kind of crap so we had 65% of the questions allready faked in our minds before we went in. But all the cops were looking at us, making us nervous and if we screwed in 2% of the speech, we would have get caught. but we got trough the questioning and then everybody wanted to help us. one of them even ofered us a ride to one that was far. but we said no thanks. Lesson learned: Search and dont be lazy.!!!! [last edit 4/25/2004 4:34 AM by joexplore - edited 1 times]

| | | Joe... you sound like you're kind of young... and imaginative. I highly doubt anything happened in reality like you wrote. Cops also don't make a habit of offering to take kids to abandoned buildings... the liability for you getting injured or killed would be on them... Give reality a shot man... it's not that bad.

| | | Read my words! FBI doesn't hang arround the police station, but detectives do, and if he hapends to be there bad luck for me. And they have better stuff to do than question me but they wanted to know if I was up to something bad cause it is a really odd school project. It wasn't fake I would take a picture of the police station I went but what does that prove, i should take a picture with an oficer. No.2> He wasn't going to take us to an abandoned place, he just ofered the ride cause he was going to go trough that street, and is right in front of one of the busiest streets in town. and it was 1:00 PM, and we were yust going to take pictures, Why would we get hurt?!??!?!, Remember he doesn't know we were going to go in it. Its yust a school project. And the place was about 5 blocks down so it wasn't that much of a ride to take. But i dont have to prove anything to anyone. so if yall dont belive me and think im inventing s**t so be it. But you have to admit it is a good way to get places to explore.may be next week i'll go to the police station, get a really big list and take a picture of me with an oficer in the midle of the police station. But then again, since you all would never have the guts to do something like this, it looks FICTIONAL. Coward people only belive in stuff they can do. | | | Come on, guys, give him a break. Yes, he is a kid and yes, he probably does have a vivid imagination. But... Does that make his story any less plausible? I took his sentence to read that the detective was an 'FBI type.' You know, full of himself and questioning everything with suspicion... All of us know that way weird things have happened in the course of a UE. So, give him the benefit of the doubt for now...
