Photos from the STL meet & Greet

Hey guys, these are my photos from the STL Meet & Greet.

I'm looking for a critique on the photos as well as the set as a whole. Is the order of the images good? Does each image compliment the next one? Stuff like that.

Hope you enjoy them

Photos 1, 5, and 7 are HDR. Then the rest are just regular photos edited in PS. All pictures taken with a Kodak C875

Thanks for looking.

#1 looks awful, to put it truthfully. There is an insane amount of purple fringing, and the blowouts are muted and look very unrealistic.

#7 should have been shifted to the left or right, so that the pole isn't directly in the center of the image.

Other than that, it seems like you guys had a blast at the STL meet!

Nice shots man, I will also agree #1 needs some work. Either metering for the light coming in or using a filter.

I think #1 has a very Close Encounters of the Third Kind thing going on. I'll defend. I'm still upset I missed the meet & greet!

I agree with the spicemeister. I like 1, not as a photo per se, but as a more abstract work of art. You kind of lose the feeling of photography just because its really blurred and has very surreal colors. But I also agree it needs some work.

I would either rework it into your traditional, focused, clean colored photo, or abstract it beyond recognition.

Nice set though. I like a lot of the patterns and textures.

#1 Seems to be liked by some and not by others.. if you had just had the camera up a little higher the light wouldn't have been so harsh. I think I might like it more under exposed, any from before the HDR look good?

#7 I actually like how its centered by the pole.

I like the skewed and slanted look of #6, but not as much in #2 and #9.

Overall a good set there.

Thanks for the responses everyone.

I debated whether or not to include #1 in the set at all. I changed my mind several times over but chose to include it in the end. The darn thing just looked cool to me everytime I opened it. I'm going to try to make it a B&W image. I may include it in my B&W set.

At pezking4, none of the pre-HDR images for #1 really look good by themselves, unfortunately.

Anyone care to say what they think about #5. That's my favorite picture in this set.

Again thanks everyone!

See the bottom horizontal beam in number 5?

I'd enjoy this photo more if that beam were closer to being parallel to the edge of the image. If it were my photo, I'd crop and rotate ever so slightly.

If you don't mind, I've rotated approximately 2 or 2.5 degrees clockwise to illustrate what I mean.

EDIT: You could probably even stand to rotate it another 0.25 or 0.3 degrees if you wanted to get it really straight.

I don't mind the border on the others, but the black and white border on #5 distracts with all the other lines there.
