Ashwood Forest Complex
entry by El Guerrouj

First urban exploration for Aubrey and I. Nice and overcast almost 70 degrees, a little...scratch that, a LOT wet. We found a house with a lot of barns/out buildings close to our location that was begging to be explored.

The buildings all looked like they were 80+ years old. From the road there were two normal no trespassing signs, and also a large Government billboard that said Firewood and Ash Wood material past this point $4,000 fine max...

This was a little troubling, and there were neighbors on all sides...

Except that back.

Came in from the back and did a lot of exploring around in the largest barn and we were amazed at what we found. There for almost an hour and realized that being newbies we weren't completely prepared. Once the batteries on the camera died we trekked home and I picked up gloves that I had forgotten and we packed a bag with flashlights and got a new pack of batteries for the camera. The trek back went much faster and we ended up taking about 160 pictures and spent a good two and a half hours exploring all the buildings.

Enjoy.

This is the complex from the Road taken the next day.

We found multiple signs advertising Baskin Robins 31 Flavors that were pretty old school.

There was a really old Ford C50 hauling truck right in front of the barn. We opened up the door and it was empty inside, it looked like it had been loaded with a bunch of cement blocks before that were unloaded right behind the truck. Also had a lowering ramp on it.

Old Pepsi freezer that I was standing on top of in order to get over all the junk in the house. Aubrey pointed it out after I had already gone to the next room.

Second Floor, wondering why there was a HUGE hole in the side of the house...

There was a hole in the side of the little brick building and you could see the old bed frames inside through the hole.

Further proof that Baskin Robins was involved...would love to know the history of this old place.

Pretty good excursion for a crappy camera and our first UE. Any comments/suggestions are more than welcome! Hope you enjoyed!
