Endeavoring to Encroach
entry by dorian
4/11/2006 1:10 PM

So the journal begins shortly after my joining the community. Hello to all, name's Dorian. If we ever meet, I may give you another name to call me by, and I may not.

I have been UEing for a few years, and never realized that it was a 'thing' until mid-2005. Someone I mentioned the hobby to alerted me to the fact that it was in actuality a popular hobby, passion, and even way of life to many people.

What drew me into my initial explorations was this unquenchable wanderlust, and a general nosiness. Also, I am very much in love with photography and I felt that the best subjects were often covered in dust. After several excursions, I fell in love with UE for innumerable reasons, on levels you probably all understand. The internet provided me a way to discover information about new sites (to me!) and also was a medium for me to meet some of my best friends and current UE group.

This journal will be where I catalog photos, stories, and detailed info about local places. Starting later today, probably, as I'm doing some recon this afternoon. So cheers, and happy settlement-spelunking to all.
