Details of a Highly Succesful Scouting Operation
entry by Mellon_Collie

I woke up exactly at 7:30, right when I was supposed to meet Alex at 'Ol South pancake restaurant, but I live close enough I got there only a minute after him. I think I slept a total of maybe 2 hours? I got hom at 3:30 I think after my exploration with Noah in Dallas which was really cool, which I will detail later.

I took him to the Good Year Tire place, we took some photos, and were done with it. Not much too it. It was surprisingly wet on the bottom floor, which made for some cool shots, but my camera got awfully wet... I think it is okay though I was kind of surprised that he did not seem all that interested in it. The place was pretty fun for me, and left quite a few questions to be answered, but I dunno, I guess it was probably the rain.

After that we check out some drains: Alex took me to the Mexican Mall (More on the hilarious/awesome mall later), which is probably an awesome place to explore by itself, but the real quarry was a drain that ran under it. Unfortunately, it was raining, and Alex did not seem as intent on exploring, as opposed to just scouting too. Bummer. No one ever seems to be as excited about these sorts of things as I am. There is a lot more to Southern Fort Worth than I had thought. Made me realize my City is much bigger. And that there is much more to explore.

Next was the Southern Oil such and such. I can't remember what it was called exactly, but everyone else has been there. apparently when it was much cooler. There is not exactly a whole lot left, but Wow, that place is amazing. Amazing! I can begin to describe how excited I got after that, and I only got more excited as the operation went on. It will yield some amazing pictures for sure.

After that, we went to the drive-in movie theatre which was being camped out, presumably by psuedo-homeless people. Swanky accommodations though. It did not look like there much there besides the screens anyways. Lots of trash and refuse though, which was kind of interesting to study.

Then we went to a couple of places I thought were warehouses, but most were in fact not. Particularly this one, which turned out it used to be the Fort Worth rec center. Very cool. It will be difficult to get in if it is even possible, but definitely worth it I think. Only one way to find out In this area in general were a bunch of abandoned store fronts and warehouses. All will be explored in eventuality. We also check out JPS hospital which I will try to probe tonight, and the nearby granaries which Alex told me I could get into. Probably save that one for tomorrow when it is light out on account of it being kind of in a shady neighborhood. Lots of things in this area...

After that we drove around, but stumbled upon new drain, and open manhole covers one right after the other. Quite a few, very odd. Very lucky. Very good. But alas, the rain! Oh how I lament when it precipitates!

After that, I can not remember exactly what happened. I think my brain melted from all the awesome prospects. I think we talked about drains some more, and then he dropped me off. At any rate, now I am home writing this... So yeah.

Next: Dallas with Noah - Not Quite Such a Death-Hole, and Relatively Interesting City, etc.
