| | What do you use to resize your photos? < on 11/14/2005 9:24 PM >
| | | I've got a Kodak DX6490 and it takes great pictures but when I resize them with Microsoft Photo Editor it seems like I lose a huge amount of quality.

| | | Try Photoshop. The full version is very expensive, but Version 2.0 is available for free from their website. Good luck!

| | | The only thing I have found that works decently is Photoshop. (You may also want to try GIMP---A freeware program that is supposed to be photoshop-like. I haven't tried it though). Microsoft Word is sometimes okay for basic resizing as well, but can get distorted if you play with it too much.

| | | I have photoshop, but if Im not going to do any tweaking to It I just use the image resizer powertoy from Microsoft. If you have XP just go to their powertoys website. Install the image resizer toy. Then when you right click on an image you can just click on resize image and then choose the size you want. Really fast and easy.

| | | TDK, the reason you might be getting image degradation is because when you resize them, the compression is set higher than you'd expect. I used to have some scanner software that would render some horrendous JPEGS; all I had to do was turn the slider to the right, but, if you can , do a "Save as" then set your compression. Sometimes it takes a little experimentation to get it right. Set it too high and the file size may be bigger than your original. What a pain in the ass. Anyone know of a "smart"resizer" I use PS PRo which has an optimizer, but there must be a better way. Got to be.
I got your tour winner right here pussies, at least he'd crash out trying. |

I've been using it for about 6 months, so I have to assume its actually free. However, I just went to their website, and I can't find the free download that I got. Its possible that it has been discontinued. Sorry!!!

No kidding. Arm and a leg, like Macromedia's products. BTW, didn't Adobe and Macromedia merge? I personally use Adobe Photoshop CS for my image needs, formerly used Macromedia Fireworks MX (and version 8). Open them, save them as TIFFS, then export the finished product as a JPEG somewhere in the 100K range.
