Right now I just read this and just found out. As I was walking into union station where I am right now, i thought about an article in details magazine, and the article was about NINJA. when i read that article my hobby that I had now had a name for it. It was called urban exploration. I still have the magazne with the article. and he was talking about doing stuff in union and the lawrence attic.

NINJA i never met you, but I will miss you.

got it right this time

There's nothing I can say that hasn't been said. My condolences to Liz, and anyone else close to him.

I will also register as an organ donor as soon as I figure out how to do it. I've also suggested my mother do the same. I think all of you should too -- why not, really? You could save a life.

Just in case folks are wondering how to become an organ donor...

(edit: Sorry, I didn't realize Liz posted the very same links earlier, but I think they are important enough to be double posted.)

To be honest I did not about him before I came to this site. However after reading everything on his site and everything that people are saying here I can see why he was so important to UE's everywhere. He truly will be missed.

Ninj was a huge inspiration to everyone and his website was the starting place of my UE "career". I am very, very happy that I had the chance to meet him and shake his hand. He will always live on in this community and will never be forgotten!!!

Liz, my heart is going out to you and his family. I am truly sorry to hear this news.

On behalf of the Vancouver Exploration Group, NEIN, Coyote, and Caliban wish to extend our sympathies to Liz and all of the family and friends that surrounded Ninjalicious. It was partially because of him that VEG (and many other UE groups) was created. He gave many motivation, education, and validation.

Good luck Ninj, as you begin the greatest Infiltration of all...

Upon hearing of Jeff's passing, I immediately put his and Liz's interview at the front of the line, and I have just put the first part (the first hour) up on archive.org for free download:

http://www.archive...0525-bbs-milkyliz1

The documentary was never about UE, so that subject is never covered; instead, Jeff talks about an entire era preceding Infiltration, involving BBSes, as does Liz. The other two hours will go up shortly, but I thought people might want to hear some of Jeff's history from his own words.

hi Jason,

This was a real treat to watch. Eagerly looking forward to the next two parts. The BBS-YIP Jeff is the person I think of when I think of Jeff, more so than infil-jeff. In the yip world I was known as Corn Syrup.

Goodbye Jeff, you were an inspiration. Nothing can properly express the incredible effect you've had on the lives of so many people. I've been enriched just knowing you.

Jeff always had a kind word, good advice, or encouragement for anyone who happened to be nearby, and we haven't just lost a daring explorer and valued member of the community, we've lost a good friend, and someone who was a real credit to humanity in general. He'll be missed.

My deepest sympathies to Liz, and to Jeff's family.

I only met Ninj twice, but both times I hung out with him, I'd have to say I genuinely liked the guy... and that's rare for me.

I'm not sure how to explain it. He had a bit of a presence to him. You could read about all the things he'd done and had this image of him in your mind, only to meet him and find out he's just like you. Always friendly, always had something good to say, always had good advice. His passing is a major, major loss to the UE community, and to his friends and family. I can't really claim I knew him well, but given the chance, I certainly would've liked to.

RIP, mon ami.

Know a guy who works there, passed the info to him so that it would get out in the mainstream, make sure the city knows about him. Good to see it worked

I hope he invades god's privacy in heaven and blames the devil for it. otherwise I'm worried he'll get bored.

Early this year I received the following e-mail from Ninj. I think I can pay no greater hommage to him than by publishing his own words. I hope that I can be as calm in the face of adversity as he was. I had more contact with him after this e-mail, but I will never forget the moment it arrived in my inbox:

Hey Petr. I don't really like writing this message, but since we're old friends I wanted to tell you personally so you don't just hear it through the grapevine. I've been diagnosed with terminal cancer and they predict I only have a few months to live. The cancer isn't anything related to exploring; I just have really unhealthy guts, and this cancer stems from a liver problem I've had for a long time.

So, that's the bad news. The good news is that I'm now discharged from the hospital and done with work and really looking forward to spending the next
few months with Liz and my friends and family. [...] I'm not in any pain and not depressed -- I'm philosophical about the whole thing. So things feel pretty good.

I don't really know what's going to be happening with my zine or my site. If you have any good ideas, I'm open to suggestions. I have an exploration book I've been working on and I'd like to either publish that or at least leave it in a state where Liz can get it published.

Anyhow, that's all. Just wanted to let you know. Hope you're doing well.

Jeff

Jeff, I sincerely hope you're doing well !
My condoleances to Liz - if I can do anything to help from this side of the ocean, tell me.

I rarely come over here anymore but I got word about Ninj threw Mike Dijital who told us the other night what happened. So I wanted to poke my head in and say something.

Rest in Peace Ninj. We rarely ever agreed in debates but had a lot of the same ideas in other things. As an amazing explorer you'll be missed, I hope they got a lot of sweet abandoned places where you've gone. I also hope whenever we all make it there you'll give us a guided tour.
