| Well,
Today I decided to spend some time talking to you about my "other" beliefs. Unlike pretty much everyone else here, I have an ulterior motive to exploring these old buildings and locations. I'm somewhat obsessed with the paranormal and supernatural, and have been for quite some time. Many of my expeditions are designed to attempt to see or hear something out of the normal...and I have meant with quite a bit of varied success. On a regular basis, I will bring a recorder with me in attempt to capture E.V.P. on tape. I'm also known to turn the lights off completely and sit in a dark room in abandoned hospitals, graveyards, etc.
Why, you might ask? Many of you have probably spent countless hours exploring places and NEVER seen or heard something creepy. Others may have seen or heard things but accounted them to just "being on edge" or a "homeless" person.
Well, let me tell you....there ARE things out there that many people turn an eye towards. So, I'm going to take a few minutes to tell you of some things I've seen. You can disbelieve or try to be skeptical all you want, but approach it with an open mind.
-Large Graveyeard on U.S. 41, Sarasota Florida.
This Graveyard is probably one of the largest in Sarasota. It's quite visible directly off of U.S. 41 and behind it is a large wooded area, complete with pond and many trails. Myself and a friend discovered one day that the locks to the mausoleum were open and decided to come back at night. The mausoleum is quite large and full of tight corridors and small crypt rooms. We were here at about 2 am in the morning, and were reading epitaphs by flashlight. We passed one dedicated to a teenage girl that died at the age of 17 by car accident. It happened to be the anniversery of her death (evident by the many flowers, candles, etc by her crypt, and the cards we read. In fact, the mausoleum may have been left open due to people here for the anniversery of her death.) We finished reading it and made our way around the corner to a small nook to read some more. Upon returning, all five candles were lit under her crypt marker. Upon approach, the candles flared up, then all went out together, with no wind. Oddly, it was not a scary moment. It was more of a "Wow." moment for us.
-A second incident in the Graveyard involves the wooded area behind the Graveyard. We decided on a whim to go travel the trails (different night then the first) and head back to the pond. It was somewhat cold (for Florida anyway) and in November. Upon arriving after a long cold walk to the lake in the woods, we watched six Orange lights rise FROM the water, circle around the lake, then shoot out into the sky. She caught this on her digital camera and still has the photos, I may try to get in contact with her again to post them here if anyone is interested (reply.) That's not the disturbing part though. On our way back to the Graveyard, for the first time in my life, I saw a spirit. You can disbelieve all you want, you can mock and be skeptical, but to this day, I know what I saw. A child, dressed in a white floral print dress, crossing the graveyard and fading into nothingness. After she faded, an orange light shot up from her into the sky as well. This was my last trip to the graveyard before I moved up here to Virginia/Maryland.
I have several more tales to tell, involving the now demolished Ringling Towers, the Sarasota Mental Outpatient center (also demolished) and several interesting tales involving things spotted in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I'm always interested to see if anyone else on UER goes to sites hoping to perhaps spot something unknown. Unlike most people, if I hear a strange sound or see something odd, I'll stay or approach it. Why?
Because, like all of us, I want to know.
