I wouldn't say I'm a skeptic, but I don't have any definitive proof against ghosts and that kinda stuff, though I am pretty fascinated in the topic. What are some of your guys stories relating to this? Even if you don't believe it I'm sure everyone has some pretty weird shit happen to them.

Plus I got an Ouija Board that I'm pretty interested in using especially in old houses where people could've died.

No weird experience here.
Sometimes i urbex with a group of people and one of them happened to have a channel on youtube. With his own group they go inside buildings late at night and try to communicate with ghosts. He showed us some equipment. A device that counts radiation and a radio with a button that would change the channels fast. You were supposed to ask the ghosts questions and they would reply through the racing radio. He told us some weird stories and it looked like he was telling the truth.
But I do not believe in ghosts. I believe it is a creation of people who expect to see them and exaggerate on what they felt and saw. Also i wouldn't like thinking about ghosts during exploring. It 's scary even if it is not real.

I'm gonna start this by saying the encounter could have well been a squatter but I did not stick around to find out what it was coming from. I was exploring an old recording studio of sorts that was pretty trashed by squatters and vandals. Found the first open door and explored a small section of the building then right when I entered through another doorway way I heard a faint noise, I thought it was a faucet dripping. Once I got closer I realized it was the noise of a ratchet strap being pulled tight, that systemic clicking when it reset, over and over again. After I processed how that is not a noise one should hear in a building at all I booked it out of there in a dead sprint. To this day I still wonder if that was what I heard or what was making the noise.

PS- I got chills down my body writing this one

When I took the linked pic below (from my former acct) of the ventilation shaft above the Rays Hill Tunnel, I could hear whispering. I couldn't make out actual words, but the sensation was like someone whispering directly into my ear. It was most likely related to the massive amount of air moving through here (ventilation shaft and the tunnel itself are really breezy). None the less it creeped me out in the moment and made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.....

Interesting stuff. My cousin who gave me the Ouija Board, warned me when he handed it over saying "some pretty scary stuff has happened on that board". He allegedly used it in an abandoned house not far from our city which is now demolished.

He also told me another story of them exploring an abandoned factory at night. He said that he and his buddies were in a pitch dark room trying to crawl under some debris when they heard a distinct, but inhuman "Hey!" from the other side of the room, which prompted them to leave ASAP.

I personally don't really have any confirmed stories, but I was exploring an abandoned house a few weeks ago with 2 friends. I was about to walk up the stairs when I heard a giant thud behind the stairs. It didn't sound like objects falling or anything, and keep in mind my friends were behind me. This thud was loud like a bang behind the stairs where I don't remember there being a room. Probably nothing, but after looking back at the video it intrigues me as my friend originally said I knocked over a bucket, to where I thought he was right. But in the video I didn't even touch the bucket at the bottom of the steps.

I actually had a really weird experience around November of last year. It's not necessarily paranormal, but I can't explain what happened for the life of me.

For context, I go to a relatively old boarding school. The place is full of things like utility tunnels, weird spaces between walls, and just generally interesting places that no one really knows about.

I started to get really into exploring my school around a year ago. In November of last year, I decided I wanted to get down into the steam tunnels. My plan was to go down to the basement through a door I knew was usually unlocked and try to find my way into the tunnels from there. I went down into the basement at around 6:00 in the evening. It was my first time doing anything like that at my school, so I was super jumpy. I kept thinking I heard someone walking around (although it was probably just people on the floor above) and ultimately decided to turn around before I found the tunnels. I couldn't have been down there for more than 15 minutes.

I went up to my dorm as usual and was immediately greeted by a pissed-off teacher. He asked me where I'd been all night. My heart sank like a stone. I thought I'd been caught on a security camera or something. It turned out that I wasn't in trouble for being in the basement at all. Freshmen and sophomores at my school are supposed to check in for the night at around 7:00. I'd arrived at my dorm a few minutes past past 9.

I ended up getting in a fair amount of trouble for that. The faculty had been searching for me for over an hour. They obviously had a few friends try to call me first, but I didn't get anything because there wasn't any service in the basement.

I'm not saying it's impossible that I lost track of time somehow. Like I said earlier, it only felt like 15 minutes. It might have been twenty minutes or even a half hour, but I honestly don't know how I could've been down there for three full hours. I didn't really do much exploring that night. All I did was look around the first room I came to at the bottom of the stairs for a bit, and the room wasn't exactly large. I think about it relatively often and and honestly can't think of an explanation.

I went down to the basement and actually explored it in depth several more times throughout that year once I got a bit more comfortable. Nothing strange like that has happened to me down there since.

That's pretty damn interesting actually. I assume you weren't under the influence of anything. I know how that feels but for some reason I can't remember the specific instance where I felt the feeling of "what the hell just happened". Also thanks for reminding me about tunnels. I'll have to scout the university in my city for some as I heard universities have them pretty regularly.

I hope I have an experience like that sometime. So far there's only a few memories in my life where I just can't explain it, but not much relating to UE.

That's pretty interesting lol. I used to watch too many ghost videos as a kid and would always be paranoid as hell. Every little weird shadow I'd see in the reflection of a window or on a TV would cause me to immediately whip around to see what's up. Now I'm sorta the opposite. I hope something like that happens just because I think it would be pretty interesting. I imagine the more I explore the more objects I'll see that trigger my pareidolia especially in the dark.

had a couple weird things happen while out in the field... were they paranormal? I don't fucking know. They were just weird experiences that defied a logical explanation.

your mileage may vary...

There is actually one weird thing I noticed while in the basement. There was an odd smell to the place the whole time I was down there. The best way to describe it is something like ozone or static electricity. You'll know what I mean if you ever put your hand on top of a plasma ball as a kid. Maybe it was a gas leak or something? I didn't really think anything of it at the time, but I haven't smelled it there since that night.

Basements almost always oughta smell weird. But in that case it's totally possible. Could've had you trippin balls or passed out in both cases you don't remember. But then again I wasn't there so I wouldn't know, all I know is that sometimes when you're under the influence of some funky stuff time usually doesn't feel like it normally does.

This is an interesting topic for me.

Years ago I posted a photo of myself sitting on an ore skip deep in an California mine. I received an email from a guy asking if I had felt any paranormal activity while we were down there. It turns out that he was the last mining engineer that ran production mining there. He told me a story about two of his guys were riding up the incline on that skip just a few feet below where the photo was taken. The skip jumped the track and killed both miners. It sill bothered him that he lost two of his guys and was wondering if they were still hanging around. I've been in a LOT of mines and have never had an encounter.

I did have an experience at home that has stuck with me. Two of us live in my house and my roommate was on the east coast taking a class for work. Before she left she watched a movie named Ghost Ship and left the DVD in the player. One evening I was making dinner when the TV turned on and the video started playing (with its creepy music in the intro). I was startled, then walked over to shut down the TV and DVD player. What was odd is they were different brands and required two different remotes to operate them. A few minutes later I was back in the kitchen when the TV turned on and the video started playing again. This time I was really creeped out. This time I pulled the DVD out of the player before shutting both devices down.

Most people tell me it was interference with someone's garage door opener, or someone playing with their own remote. Neither of those explain it to me when the devices are from different manufacturers and require different remotes. Also, I've lived in this house for 15 years and that is the only time the TV or DVD player turned themselves on. Now I'm not saying it was a ghost, but I don't have a good explanation. Oh yeah, one of my roommate's nephews was watching the house while we were out of town. When we got back, he declared, "This house is haunted!" and didn't want to watch the house again.

I do have a question for you guys. There have been a couple of occasions when the hall bathroom would smell like cigarettes. No one smokes in the house, but the smell is absolutely identifiable. It lasts a number of days, possibly a week then disappears. This happens once or twice a year. Does anyone else have very unusual smells that come and go at your house?

Very Abby Normal

Interesting stuff, thanks. I hope I get to explore abandoned mines sometime since I live in Wisconsin I imagine the closest are probably in the UP somewhere. Going from your question, I can't say that I smell weird stuff repeatedly. Does it happen at the same time of year every time?

This story isn't UE related, but I find it pretty "chilling" but also bittersweet. My mom's sister named Becky died from her cystic fibrosis not long before I was born. When my oldest brother was a toddler, he was sitting by my mother and was pointing at a light in the room over that hangs by a chain from the ceiling. He was saying "Becky. Becky..." and my dad goes and walks over to the light and sees it swinging ever so slightly. Also when my grandmother died last year in the night my uncle got the call from the nursing home. My uncle got up and was sitting in his living room trying to figure out the financial stuff and just being awake because his mother just passed. He lives in the house she lived in prior to her going to the nursing home because of Alzheimer's. He was sitting there probably 5 mins after her death and he has 2 dogs and a cat. One dog was staring into the kitchen and growling. The other was digging intensively into the floor for no reason, and the cat was staring at the ceiling following something around like a laser pointer was up there. My uncle was never a believer in spirits, but he said he thinks she was there that night. Again kind of bittersweet. He said satirically that he doesn't mind her there, but doesn't need her watching him shower or something lol.

Speaking of mines, I've seen some pretty creepy videos coming from those. And they are definitely a place where people die pretty commonly. That's a reason I want to explore an abandoned hospital I know of so badly.

Several years ago, I used to visit a location often that was an old homestead aging of approx 100 years or so.
Every time we went here, regardless of who was with me, we would hear heavy boot stomps above the kitchen. When I say heavy, I mean they were loud as f*%k ! Above the kitchen was an old servants quarters with its own staircase and that was the only way to get in and out of this room.
Calling out announcing we were just explorers to never get a response.
I went up the stairs each time to find the room stark and empty but always got a very heavy feeling and suddenly I couldn't ever breath properly until I came back downstairs.
I did get some odd colour changing lights in photos that appeared to shoot through the floors and make absolute perfect right angle trajectory movements but cannot say for certain what caused them.
Several people who came with me when hearing the boot stomps took off like bats out of hell and were too scared to check it out with me...I always swallowed my nervous stomach and checked to see if someone was there but there never was.

That creeped me out as it happened every time we went there. Because of this experience that occurred several times, I do think there is shit beyond my scope of seeing and understanding !!

My dad kinda had a story like that, but not in an abandoned house. He was home alone when he heard someone upstairs and started walking down the steps loudly, ending before it came around the corner. If ghosts are indeed real, I imagine abandoned houses would often be the place as their death is often the reason for the abandonment. I explored one recently and I just can't understand it. On the table there was U.S. history homework just left there. Everything was almost frozen in time except for damage and the pigsty of clothes, objects, and insulation upstairs.
Very intriguing how it happens repeatedly for you though.
