My Top 30 (I think?) Abandonment Shots of 2023

On my HD, I originally called this folder "Top 12 of 2023" and had every intention to whittle it down to the absolute best dozen, but sheeeesh. It's been another prolific year. After 109 location folders, some containing multiple spots in the same geographical areas, I was at a total loss of how to get this below 30. I took a step back from the "big ticket" locations this year and went back to my roots, re-focusing on back-woods, satellite imagery discoveries and hiking out to see what they were. Because of that, I had a lot more obscure vehicle finds this year (2 absolute gems) and a greater concentration on small detail shots at substandard locations instead of sweeping exterior vistas of amazing spots. A few tongue-in-cheek horror movie edits in post, and a nod to this year's two biggest pop-culture movies are thrown in for good measure. I really hope you'll enjoy this enough to let me know what you think. Exploring continues to be an absolute passion, but it's equally as fun to hear what might interest you enough to comment on. I love this hobby and look forward to all the crazy surprises that 2024 will hold.

A total surprise! I hiked 20 minutes through a swamp to get to an old property that didn't even have a house. That was inside the barn, with no access drive to get out to it any longer. A 1951-54 Jaguar XK120 Coupe. Only 2,477 of those fixed-head models were made in the world.

That Jag XK120 is probably the highest value car I've ever seen left somewhere, that's crazy.

Number 3 for the automobile content winner. But that railing that draws your eyes to the gothic arch window..... Beautiful. Number 8 is my vote for top dawg.

Good stuff as always GS, loving some of the more unique angles/detail shots you've taken, it's a nice change of pace from some of the other styles of photos I've seen people take (not that there's anything wrong with those other ones).

#27 is too cool. Something about that Cadillac sitting in the cinderblock garage gives me chills.

GS what a fantastic YIR !!

#2 - At first I thought the key was a skull *my glass eye needed spit shine apparently. LOL

#5 - Cool as EFF...that is all.

#6 - Reminded me of Georgia Guide Stones in forest at first - Great capture!

#16 - Awesome edit! The Murder of Crows a nice touch !!

#20 - The craftmanship here is superior to any crap today. Would LOVE to have this in my home.

#21 - LOVE the "ghosty" here. WELL DONE.

#26 - Tammy Faye doll is a hawt mess.

#28 - Sooo much happening on one thistle. Epic Macro.

All those cars though? Never ceases to amaze me as to what gets left behind to rot. Really makes me wonder sometimes.

thanks for sharing and wishes for a Happy New Year !!
