Topeka Hotel With Pool - & Waterslide!!
Posted on Forum: UER Forum
Went to a abandoned hotel in Topeka KS recently, started off with a predictable set of hallways and random rooms. It was pretty recently abandoned, so some of the rooms were still in good shape. Overall though, it started as a rather standard explore.

It was relatively standard, at least until we entered into a larger, central room that existed further down the main hall:

It was a massive pool room! Equipped with a large, spiraling blue slide (which was a ton of fun to climb!).

Other than that, there was a kitchen in the back, complete with some free snacks:

Finally, there was a large ballroom:

The final photo must be prefaced with the fact that I am always the first to profess the 'leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but photos' approach to Urban Exploration, however when there are several cans of fire extinguishers around, you have to do something!

That's all folks, hope you enjoyed.

That fire extinguisher photo is fucking hilarious. Gave me a new idea. Are those molded bagels or donuts? Would've totally skated down that waterslide.

Wow this is a real deja vu moment. Back in 2012 I moved with my family from Chicago to SF, and we decided to do a road trip across the US, and we had some friends we wanted to visit in Kansas City. I remember we stopped in Topeka in what was a normal looking Hotel on the outside, but on the inside it had those big water slides and I really wanted to stay another night. If im not mistaken there should also be a hotel restaurant?

Idk about a restaurant, there very well could've been, I'm afraid we didn't explore it as thoroughly as I wished, and there were lots of doors that were stuck closed. That'd be crazy if it was the same one you stayed at though!

Somewhere in my collection of old CD-ROMs is a picture of 5 people standing in a row and each blasting a fire extinguisher vertically in an old power plant.

I'll have to look for it.

did you try to slide down the slide at least? by intuition, i would think that the accumulated dust would allow you to slide a little bit

great pics, amazing find

We tried a couple times, but it's suprising how much traction those slides have when not covered in water. We the occasional slippery spot, but it was far quicker to walk down than to slowly slide.

Thanks for the compliments! Surprised this post is still getting comments lol.

I remember staying at that hotel once as a kid! Always wanted to explore it once it was shut down.
