Lindy Boggs Medical Center was among the buildings most impacted by Hurricane Katrina, stranding hundreds inside during the storm and being one of the two hospitals in the city with the highest number of deaths. A small part was renovated and reopened as a nursing home nearly ten years ago, but the vast majority has been sitting abandoned ever since. Under new ownership as of summer 2021, redevelopment plans could be on the horizon if all goes according to plan, but that's pretty much always up in the air.
