Questions about using drones

I recently got a DJI mini 2 and I'm excited to take it out in the field and use it for scouting and cool videos. I have some questions for those that use theirs regularly while exploring.

1. Does signal interference manifest itself when flying at locations with tons of metal? Like old factories?

2. Noise. I know this is kind of a use common sense thing, but has your drone ever blown your cover?

Any other general tips for using it for this specific purpose would be nice. Thanks!

While I don't have one myself, I do have several friends who own drones. There's a lot of FAA flight restrictions in place around certain areas that are pre-programmed into drones. For example, within a certain radius of airports and sometimes power plants and government buildings, you can't fly a drone. If you try it will simply refuse to take off. Something worth keeping in mind when considering interference.

Yes certain drones, DJI ones too can have massive interference in old factories especially steel mills, I crashed my phantom pro due to such error. I got a magnet interference error thing and the drone sent it's self flying into a wall. As for blowing your cover, depends on how big the drone is and where you fly it.

I'll be fuckin' around in the mills

You can get dumb drones that don't use a smartphone/WiFi for control. That will allow you to avoid the pre-programmed no fly zones.

The problem is that you're flying by the seat of your pants and unless you have a fair amount experience flying it, the chances of crashing it are excellent.

A remote possibility with WiFi drones is that the person you're looking in on has no sense of humor and possibly has a fair amount of computer smarts.

A few years some weisenheimer had their drone hovering in front of such a person's parked vehicle. He opened a Telnet session to the drone and wiped the drone's filesystem. Running it over with his vehicle was the coup de grâce.

In order to use your head, you have to go out of your mind.
