Preferred transportation method?

I dunno if this subject has already been thoroughly explored on this site, but what are ppl's preferred forms of transport for going exploring? One time I went in a friend's car to a site (old railroad bridge with an empty lot nearby where we parked), and as we were leaving an angry neighbor stormed up and took pictures of the license plate and threatened to call the cops. On previous visits to the site, his visibility of the area was limited by a fence, but recent high winds had blown it down.

We calmed him down and left without incident, but ever since then I've only biked or walked to sites (I'm also just not a super confident driver and try to not drive for environmental, etc reasons if alternatives are available). This does somewhat limit where I can go because of the not-so-great public transit in my area and the lengthened travel times. On the other hand, in rural to semi-rural voyages sometimes I can take the bike down paths cars can't go on and it actually makes more sense than walking. At any rate, if I ever do drive to a site again, I will certainly park very far away.

How do y'all go about transportation?

I'm currently using either a bicycle for nearby exploring or driving to an area sort of close to the location and cycling to it.

About a decade ago over here, you could drive a scooter without licence plates, and I got away with all sorts of things. Nowadays they're still my favoured transport. Although over here, they blend in, which they probably wouldn't do in most North American cities.

What might be worthwhile in North American cities could be all those ridiculous e-scooters, which seem to be left pretty innocuously anywhere.

I sometimes go exploring with a couple friends, and it always takes them ages to figure out parking, let alone get through traffic.

I prefer an Adventure Touring motorcycle. Generally fairly quiet, my pld VStrom was a little more inconspicuous, I can hide the bike a little easier than a car, and the offroad capabilities ( though limited ) come in handy.

The Ktm I have now isn't as inconspicuous...

I was wondering what i should do when i drive to a location and have to park away from it, I don’t know why the idea of biking slipped my mind

I use an e-bike, very inconspicuous. They are quiet, some are affordable, some are built for trails, etc. Only an issue if you live in a small town like I do and the same troopers wave to you whenever they see you. My perfect Urbexing vehicle would be a Sur-ron. One day.

This is such a good idea, especially the ones that fold up into a more compact form that you can pop in the trunk and drive with. It just boils down to having a grand or two lying around. at least for a nice one.

Definitely have to give another vote for ebikes. The combination of speed, portability, range and stealth is hard to beat. Here's an example of me and a buddy using them to do some recon of "Devil's Tower":

for sure, mine does not fold but I had a cheaper one that did, it did not last long. I would definitely get a higher quality build e-bike and one that folds when I get one again!

On Sunday I saw the coolest electric bike I have ever seen. I just found it online and it's crazy expensive but soooo cool. It's the Segway Dirt eBike X260. Take a moment and look it up on the web. While I'm a traditional motorcyclist, I think there are some great electric bikes on the market. If you have ever have the opportunity to ride an electric motorcycle, don't miss it!

For my mine exploring, I drive my F-250 Super Duty which is set up for camping and offroading.

generally, yeah, but it did not take much wear or tear to get it to that point. Some of these e-bikes are built like shit which is why I would not cheap out again. Actually what tore it up real good is a trail to a building near me, the vigorous bumps eventually sheared off a ball joint sort of contraption holding my handlebar/handlebar shaft into the rest of the frame. Kind of confusing but it was engineered weird as fuck
