The Kruunuvuori Villas were perhaps one of the most famous urbex locations in Finland. The area was built in the early 20th century and was a popular getaway place for the Germans in Finland. After Wold War II the Soviet Union confiscated the area. It was later sold to a property developer.

The developer wanted to build apartments, but was denied permission several times. The villas deteriorated, were abandoned and burned down or collapsed one by one. The last one was destroyed in 2021.

One of the aspects I enjoyed with the Kruunuvuori villas was how many of them slowly collapsed on the spot. That kind of slow deterioration is fairly rare.

I thought it was rare too, until I started touring rural areas and photographing every single abandoned cottage I found. During the past week I've found two small houses, which slowly collapse.

The craziest thing I've ever found was an old rintamamiestalo type of house (there is no translation, but you probably understand), which looked completely intact from the outside. And when we entered, everything, just everything inside had collapsed from the attic to the basement.

Nice photos from place where I did never get; somehow it did always seem to be too "far". Feeling happy for every photo that have been taken from those.

Thank you! We all have the places, which are a "must" for all urban explorers and still we've managed to miss them for no obvious reason.

Mine are the old factories in Santalahti, Tampere. I watched them from train windows for years, but never went on an exploration. Now they're a construction site.
