i almost got into a fistfight today with some mouth-breather at the gas pumps over the jersey I was wearing. Radio knows I have a huge collection of Russian (KHL & minor league) jerseys... one of them is the Donetsk Donbass club that used to play in the KHL before 2014. So some guy on the other side of the pump island starts giving me shit over my 'russian' jersey... i told him to basically mind his fucking business and that it was a Ukrainian jersey. Last night, I wanted to show my support for the local Russian community and offered to take my wife out to dinner at Irina's (Russian restaurant), but she opted for the Drake Diner instead.

She didn't think my jacket would go over well. I offered to take the patches off, but after the last trip to NYC, she knows that camo pattern draws attention even without the patches.

i still wear my tanker jacket and army coat when it gets super cold... there are no patches on it. I have a jersey from an MVD/FSB?SVR league that played in the Moscow area. As for the jerseys, my favorite KHL team is having a great year for once and I am going to wear my Traktor jersey. war and politics are one thing, but hockey is another entirely.

If I post a link to a Russian news outlet, they add a banner warning people about Russian news and block the preview. If you click on the link, you get a disclaimer page about the questionable veracity of the news outlet in question.

However...

The Donetsk Peoples' Republic Ministry of Culture gets a pass with no banner or disclaimer page.

I get the feeling that the people that moderate Facebook don't know говно about the whole Russia/Ukraine thing.

Since the war began, she has been getting all sorts of death threats and other bullshit. It pisses me off, honestly. This woman is not the enemy.

As long as you don't criticize the government, they leave you alone to do basically whatever you want. VK is much more permissible than Facebook as for what's allowed.
