Good points, but I think the biggest coverage differentiator is simply geographical location.
Iraq and Afghanistan were (and still are), in the words of The Great Liar (speaking plausibly for once), "shit-hole countries", with limited telecom infrastructure. The NSFW pics and video of those wars were largely leaked by American soldiers, using their limited home-bound bandwidth (and probably against orders to boot).
In Ukraine the networks are more on par with the West. Every civilian and his uncle can upload the daily travesties to Facebook and Youtube and whatnot with a couple of taps. At least they can until Russian cunts blow up their neighbourhood cell tower. Hence, the "in your face" aspect of this particular conflict.
It makes me sick to my stomach, what's going on over there.
