2021 Year in Review

Getting a little headstart on the traditional 'year in review' posts because even though 2021 has just under two weeks left I don't think I'm going to be getting out any time soon.

2021 was in many ways a total clusterfuck, both for me exploring and things generally. I didn't get out properly until March thanks to the imposition of Lockdown 2.5 at the start of January which lasted until the end of March, my general enthusiasm for exploring took a nosedive again with me being unable to travel to the States and with the lack of places in England I wanted to bother to see, and in general I found myself going out much less - and actually enjoying some proper 'days off' for once rather than constantly chasing places to explore. I explored far fewer places this year than I have done in recent years - I have to go back to 2014 to find a comparable year numbers-wise. Conversely I spent far more time exploring stuff in Wales this year than I ever have before, and more than a quarter of my total number of locations this year was made up of Welsh chapels.

Anyway, here's hoping 2022 will be better than whatever this mess was.

You had a wonderful year! My faves are 13 for the most rusty and peeling decay and 13 for the most moldy conditions ~ Awesome! Have a great and safe 2022

Looks like you had a great year. So many churches! The one that caught my eye the most is that soggy bed in #23.

Great set as always. And great job rebounding despite the lockdown. I'm glad you were able to get around and see some new places. I was wondering who was going to drop the year in review first!

Every time you read this, I become more powerful.

3,9,11,12,48!! FTW!!

Kabbalah is an undramatic tradition that requires great patience and stability. One of the reasons for this tempo is that everyone has to mature his potential gradually and thoroughly at his natural pace. In this way his life's work unfolds at the right moment in his own and the cosmos's time.

I always try to get comfy when I sit down to check out your year-end threads, because I know I'll be in for a ride. You don't disappoint this year either, despite all of the obstacles. Great work!

Cheers all - fingers crossed 2022 is more fruitful in many ways, although I did enjoy my outings this year.

Because I like to keep track of stuff I did an end-of-year count and the really scary thing is I'll be passing my 1000th documented explore milestone very soon indeed, probably within the first couple of months of this year.
