One of our cohorts was screening slideshows of her urban renewal photography as part of a 24-hour outdoor public theater, so she suggested we meet up there, where we could drink moderately. I asked if we could drink heavily, and she gave in.

I drove by the location, which is at a beloved megastructure built in downtown Seoul that is undergoing rapid gentrification. And it turned out the lowrise neighbourhood immediately to the east was abandoned for demolition next month. So, it looked like a good chance for a party.

0. Here's the location. Sewoon is a megastructure that's 1 kilometer long and only 50 meters wide. At this spot in 2008, they demolished the northernmost tower to make this somewhat useless public space.


1. So we took it over.



2. We brought drinks from a convenience store next door and one guy ordered fried chicken to be delivered right to us. There were six of us, with only two fully vaccinated more than two weeks ago, so this was, as far as I know, technically an illegal gathering. The cops are cracking down this weekend, but looking more in areas where foreigners gather, so we were safe. One guy there had just been vaccinated three days earlier, and I got my second shot a week earlier -- and have the burst leg vein to prove it.



3. After we had a few drinks, we headed off to go exploring. I led the boldest of us down an up escalator.

13. I found the others and lured them into this labyrinth, which was dark except the night sky. I managed to give at least two of them jump scares.



On actual Halloween, I had to work the late shift and it rained.
