Holy Hill National Shrine of Mary, Help of Christians. Known locally as simply as Holy Hill. Should have taken more pictures. We were in several areas of the chapel as well, but this place is a pilgrimage for countless people, and you will find people praying everywhere. While I am an atheist, I am not an ass about it - people are free to have their own beliefs an I respect the church and the people who follow. That said, I didn't want to hassle anyone or seem disrespectful by snapping pics all over the place. The chapel was completed in 1931. I am not certain how high the tower is, but it was 178 steps to the top. On a clear day, you can easily see the Milwaukee skyline, about 30 miles away. Canadian wildfires has had the entire state covered in a smog for almost a month now. The combined height of the hill and tower puts you at 1350ft above sea level, making it one of the highest points in Wisconsin. The chapel and tower are open to the public. Donations accepted, but not req'd and no one will hassle you for money rather you will find drop boxes.

Bonus pic. IDK much about rigs, but this Road Warrioresque beast was a chopped Peterbuilt in the parking lot down below. That lot is used for all kinds of events and flea markets. There was actually a Mopar Muscle club staging for a ride there when we arrived, but gone when we left. Not sure where the Peterbuilt fits in, but thought it was cool. You can see the chapel right between the stacks.

Very nice!

There’s basically 3 seasons in WI:

1: Fuck this shit.

2: Mosquitoes.

3: Holy Hill.

I've always said winter, and construction season. But there is definitely truth in your angle!

The view from higher up is pretty impressive, and seeing those spires from up there is something else.

I also feel the same way when I go to any religious site. I'm not religious and I can be pretty crass about it, which makes it weirder for me when I explore a religious site.

The thought of me bursting into flames as I cross the threshold always enters my mind. I feel like as long as I am respectful, I shall not be smote upon. *cue bolt of lightning*

It's happened to me. I once climbed on top of an active church and went up the clocktower to pose for a picture with the neon cross. When I got close, it gave me a pretty heavy static shock.
