Inspired by some posts on this site, I decided to go draining for the first time in a long time. A piece of advice I liked was to follow water as it will often lead you to glory.
This area, specifically Roslyn, was very badly flooded in the 90s. Just about every house in the town had their basement full of water or worse, it was a major disaster. I remember my father volunteering for the cleanup.
To this day there have been ongoing efforts to mitigate storm water in the area. I'm very familiar with the area and was aware of some of the work that was being done. This made getting in there pretty easy.

1) The entrance



2) It's 5 feet wide so walking through wasn't bad. Nice and dry, in good shape. I'm sure glad I got a headlamp, it was clutch.



3) Nice to know there are escape routes even though there's really nothing to worry about.



4) Here's the end, it was 1/3 of a mile.

6) I'm in a creek at this point so I figured I'd go with the flow.

13) Found this perfect walking stick! Just the right length and has a rubber handle.



14) I'm walking around the perimeter of a waste water treatment facility now.



15) This is where the processed water comes out I believe. There was a feint odor. Hopefully I won't turn into a mutant tomorrow.



16) This guy has a junkyard in his back yard. I really wanted to check it out but not with someone living in the house nearby.



17) Made my way over to this colvert which I had spotted from the road.



18) Very cool, but very short. I went a couple hundred feet in but it just got shorter. I really need kneepads for this.
This is under the road and is about the same width. I rememebr when the road was closed for about a year. They really took this drainage project seriously.

Nice pictures. Recently picked up a set of knee pads myself, really helps for some of the smaller drains.

For sure. I was able to get pretty far crouched over using a walking stick as a third leg, but I'll definitely bring knee pads next time.

Another alternative is to send keen newbies up smaller pipes then claim credit for anything they find.
