The biggest abandoned factory in the world, has shrunk by a lot due to scrapping of the metal supports in some of the buildings, and demolition of the 5 floor tall building 92 which had suffered major damage compared to the rest of the factory.

This is a good time to show one of my only pictures I took of the bridge before it collapsed.

I checked out the south end first, a 1 floor brick building stood in this grassy field.

It had some weird little concrete rooms inside of it.

This was one of the courts that had a metal shed in it, it is now a courtyard.

Nearby was a "processing company" which had vacated after the scrapping of Detroit's buildings, so it's valuable roof never got ruined in that process.

The remains of some sort of office space I think?

Sliding door, unharmed.

Some shelf frames on the first floor. Something that you'd think was burnt off.

This was the assembly line which went across the entire second floor from end to end, half a mile. Until 2 of the bridges were removed, one in renovation.

These are some conveyers on the 5th floor, that used to be on the roof, until a fire caused them to fall through; There are 3, in a row.

Same conveyer taken from a C-Shaped building that encompasses a square building.

The farther north end, which is pretty dull except for the ramp in a parking garage structure and some damaged buildings.

This is in the canyon between the tallest structure and the C-building

Judging by the doors, they used to be connected, and those bridges were also scrapped.

On the top floor, you cant access the roof skylight anymore because someone set the building on fire and the roof caved in.

There is a staircase that lets you get to the "old roof" and see 1 floor higher. That is the southern end. I wonder what is inside the shed on that roof. Never went to it.

I'm so old that I've met people that owned/drove Packard's. I met the owner of the Packard that was used in the movie "The Lords from Flatbush" I had a chance buy a 1958 Packard Hawk but didn't...

I haven't been but I love looking at the photos. I hope the border opens up before it deteriorates anymore so I can see it for myself.

Thanks for the great pics!

True story about the Packard bridge. In 2014, a friend of mine from Kentucky visited w/ her then husband. She was afraid to cross the bridge and I laughed, telling her it was "safe and solid." To prove my point, I ran out to the middle of it and jumped up and down several times, much to both of their amusement. Years later, it turned out she was CORRECT to be afraid and I'm LUCKY that bridge had a few rivets and supports left in it before it eventually gave way...!

LOL my brother(53) owns a green on green 1956 Packard Clipper. I think it's hideous.
