Not much left here, but pretty cool to walk through what remains in "Sanctuary Woods" - some trails that travel through the woods on the Milwaukee County Grounds in Wauwatosa. A number of disappearing asphalt roads weave through the area near the woods as well - access roads for the various buildings that once stood. Today those roads mostly surround a dumping ground for the county. All of the buildings were leveled long ago - some are now parking lots, and some made way for parts of the Froedtert Medical Complex. But what does remain is cool none the less. Pictured here is a portion of that. There is more of the same to see if you are in the area. Also on the grounds is a Potter's field, which may contain as many as 6500 people, but no one knows for sure as there are no records, and bodies don't seem to be contained to the cemetery or Potter's Field, as every time a construction project occurs on the grounds remains are uncovered. The area is supposedly haunted as well - my son has an "EVP" from the Potter's Field of a supposed little girl, if you believe that sort of stuff. I personally remain mostly skeptical on that subject as a whole.

Nice site and pics! Not much left, as you say, but as good a place as any to walk in the autumn woods, chill and photograph.

Are you using a Nikon? Aside from the WB perhaps being on the high side, the colour treatment puts the green hues forward, which I see a lot with Nikons, whereas Canons seem to bring out the reds more. But for all I know, you might be using any camera/phone.

i always love seeing ruins like this, not sure why - but they’re always extremely cool. there is this old bando juvenile detention center out by me and the old OLD facility is still ruined in the woods similar to this.
